maphraw
I am moving to Bangkok from upcountry and wil be working near the big Flower Market on the Chao Paya River, not far from Sanam Luang and Khao San Rd. Does anyone happen to know of any reasonably priced apartments in that area. I've been looking but haven't come up with anything near that part of the city. Cheers
dddave
one effective method of finding a room in an area is to find a moto taxi driver who speaks a bit of English. They know every apartment bldg in their area and will also know which ones are farang friendly. Pay him about B150-200 per hour to drive you around. Most of the buildings will have an office or a visible phone number.

benbear
Apartments down soi 2 or soi 4 always have rooms. Also up soi 1 or soi 3 have rooms. You'll need to come down Samsen road and look around these soi / lanes. You can always ask in the book bar in soi 2 but plenty of apartments are available. DP25
Might want to look around the other side of the river from the flower market too. You could take the ferry over for a couple baht. Samsen/Khao San is quite a hike to the flower market you would have to take a taxi or motorbike to work.
