FarangBha
My brand new MBP replacement is eating up all the bandwidth both at office and home. Even when I shut down all the sevices like Dropbox etc. Can someone reccommend a good way to track down what app is responsible for this, Cheers

nikster
Go to system preferences -> software updates. In the Scheduled Check tab, see if "download automatically" is turned on. I'd actually like to have an app that reports bandwidth use per application, for the same reason. Haven't found one so far. There's Little Snitch but it's kind of overkill - it can be set up to prompt you for each process that makes a network connection so you can find and block those that you don't want to. I'd try that if it's not the built in software update. I also had iTunes download lots of stuff I had forgotten about at one point, but if you shut down iTunes that would not be a problem. This sounds pretty good actually, 15 day free trial: http://www.macworld.com/article/1159454/rubbernet_monitors_mac_bandwidth_usage.html Edited April 25, 2012 by nikster
FarangBha
Thanks Nikster. Got on to AppleCare, and we went into activity monitor, which showed that flashplugin was using 70pc!!! of CPU. Shut that down and things seem to have improved. ... on the road again now, so not entirely sure. Will try your rec's; have heard of litte snitch, seems overkill as you say. Will try rubbernet just for the sake of it, lateron.
