I am in the early stages of obtaining all of the information required for relocation to Thailand for purposes of retirement. I have read most of the details for Thai retirement visas, but would like more information on the medical requirements both initially and upon renewal while in Thailand.

What are the initial requirements for medical exams while I am still in the U.S. and applying for the visa?

Are there subsequent requirements once I am in Thailand and am applying for the annual extension?

Under what conditions would a visa be denied for medical reasons?

I hope to hear from a few well informed sources soon

Thanks!

The Health Certificate must indicate that the applicant does not have the following serious diseases:

Leprosy

Turberculosis, TB

Elaphantiasis, Filariesis

Addiction, drug

Alcoholism

Syphilis

The above is a yearly requirement. In addition to a bank account/letter from bank and 800k income(letter from your Embassy)/savings (Thai bank account).

You can obtain certificate of health from any clinics,it take only 1 minutes and the health certificate needs to be in Thai. With all the required documents in hand , and the bank certification dated the same date the applicant goes to the Immigration office, the one year retirement visa is usually ready in an hour or so,the same day.Stamp for 1 year immidiately.

There has been another post recently where a person was sent back to the

hospital for a more rigorous set of blood tests, but unless you do have

any of the listed diseases it should not be a problem.

Medical certificates are not required in Thailand for retirement extension of stay. In your home country you will have to use what the Embassy there says to use.
