Extending Or Renewing Non O Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

I have a read the visa forum here and I know this is probably mundane to the experienced expats but I need some help understanding my visa. My Non O Marriage was issued June 14, 2011 from LA Thai Embassy, I entered Sept 28,2011 stayed until I had to leave for serious life-threatning accident on Dec 13.2011. ( I am still in California now 05/21/12), I believe the visa will expire on June 13,2012, am I correct there? If so can I get an extension or renewal Visa before then or if I arrive in BKK after it expires will there be an obtion to renew, or am I whistling in the wind. thanks in advance .

If you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa it will expire around June 14th.

Enter before that date and get 90 days.

Within the final 30 days of your stay you can apply for a 12 month extension at Immigration if you qualify.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Registry entry.

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

You can also get a 60 day extension if you wish without the above financials.

Believe you are asking about getting a new visa prior to travel and that will be up to the Consulate - current visa should be canceled first as two active visas are not allowed but if same Consulate they may be willing to do (another Consulate might not want to cancel). You are aware of one year extension of stay mentioned above as an option to visa if you meet the financials? In the immediate area only Savannakhet in Laos currently will issue the multi entry non immigrant O visa without some proof of bank account funds.

Thanks Lite Beer and Lopburi3, I am still in California USA, and will probably be coming back to Thailand in September. The current visa expires June13,2012, I received this Visa from the Los Angeles Consulate. To just renew this one before it expires is that possible ? Tomorrow I will try call Consulate or email see if I can speak to someone, before they were very helpful. Thanks again Lite Beer and Lopburi3.....thumbsup.gif

There is no renewal of a visa. You will have to apply for a new one shortly before you travel in September. Visa expiration dates start on the date of issue. Meaning that for a single entry you must enter Thailand within 90 days of the date of issue. For a multiple entry it will be 1 year from date of issue. You can use the visa up to the date of expiration and get another 90 day entry.

As said there is not such thing as renewal - if you do not plan return until September it makes sense to obtain a week or so before departure and visa will then be valid until one year from date of issue.

If you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa it will expire around June 14th.

Enter before that date and get 90 days.

Within the final 30 days of your stay you can apply for a 12 month extension at Immigration if you qualify.

Just to add to the list of requirements you now may need for a marriage extension. I have just reapplied for my second marriage extension at Nong Khai and has well as all the above I had to provide two witnesses to verify my details at a stipulated time and date. These witnesses were both interviewed separately. They signed documents and were both asked questions to verify my status. This is despite me providing two witnesses the year before when I applied for my first marriage extension successfully. They also rejected the application form TM7 I had printed and completed with a passport sized photo on it and printed out a new one which had a bigger window to fit the photo in. The passport sized photos I supplied were rejected and they wanted bigger ones, a young girl took these and charged a 100 bht for the pleasure. I also had to provide two sets of all the house photos, only one set was asked for last time. sad.png
