I have been asked if I can help find a home for a male German Shepherd that is nearly 22 months old (born 22nd August 2011). Please see pictures attached - sorry if I have compressed them too much. Currently Steward is living in Bangkok.

His lady owner travels a lot and is unable to give Steward the love and exercise that he should have.

In February he completed a K9 (Bangkok location) basic obedience training course scoring 85/100.

Anybody interested please PM me and I will pass on a phone number to contact.

I'm very tempted...Is the dog being given away or sold?

How is he with young children?

Being given away - no catches. The owner just wants to find him a good home and not turn him out or leave at the local temple.

Apparently has no issues with children according to the owner.

Hi

Im sorry but due to transport difficulties we are unable to relocate the dog to our home which is unfortunate as he looked like he would have been a good companion for our girl.

Thanks for the trouble Jim

No problem. Thanks for the interest and hope you find something closer to home.

If only the GSD was in Chiang Mai, i would be delighted to give it a good home. That said is the GSD able to travel a long distance in a car or is there someone in Bangkok who could arrange suitable travel at a reasonable cost. Thanks

Unfortunately the owner cannot organise transport. Steward has not undergone any long journeys only short ones - vet, training school etc.

One of our own GSD's was car sick on her first couple of car journeys (within 20 minutes) when younger but we did an eight hour high speed run earlier this year with only two stops and she was fine.

Let me know if you want me to send you the contact details.

Hi, unfortunately the lady owner wants to resolve this as soon as possible. From what I understand this would be in both her and Steward's best interest and I do not think she is willing to wait much longer to find a solution. Thank you however for the interest.

NB to anybody interested - On the vaccinations it is apparently not as clear cut as I was originally informed. The owner has had Steward from 4/5 months old and was told he had all his jabs however there is no actual written proof of this. It also sounds like he has not had any annual follow up jabs.

No he has not been "done" and has had all his vaccinations.

Please get the dog desexed prior to fostering him out. Far too many dogs in Thailand, and as the current owner has found out, they are not easy to look after.

As mentioned the current owner is not really interested. So it will be completely up to the new owner - IE whoever takes him on.

I am only trying to facilitate contact so not much point in telling me mellow.png

I agree there are far too many dogs in Thailand, most because their owners allow them to roam the streets. Getting a dog desexed might be one solution but did you ever consider that if a dog has a responsible and caring owner Thailand would never have this problem.

IT IS NOT THE DOG, IT'S THE OWNNER!!!!! Maybe you are not used to seeing dogs looked after as they should be!!!!
