ttelise
Another pathetic statement from the culture ministry, how about they do something about her pirated albums or is that just part of the culture? I give you the current Thai Minister of Culture... Sukumol Kunplome. This not a joke. This is the official photo of her on the Thai website: http://thainews.prd....ewscabinet.html This woman should not throw stones? I think she lives in a pretty big glass house! And we all know who her father in law is. Who is he, cookie monster? Looks like she ate the cookies.

gand
The minister like these other groups are simply using Lady Gaga to promote their misbegotten agendas. "We will pray to God that the concert will not be realised so that homosexuality and pornography will not spread around the country," he said. S. Korea Christians protest over Lady Gaga concert http://www.google.co...5bb6e84ed6c.8a1 “We reminded the producers of Lady Gaga’s concert that the show and the event as a whole shall not exhibit any nudity or lewd conduct which may be offensive to morals and good customs,” said Calixto. If Gaga performs “Judas,” however, former Philippine Congressman Benny Abante said he will try to have charges filed against the singer for offending religion. The penalty ranges from six months to six years in prison. Anti-Lady Gaga Rally Held in Philippines http://www.gossipcop...iblemode-youth/ Titin Karisma parades onto the stage wearing a rhinestone bustier and matching bottoms, with sequin fringe that jiggles wildly to the rhythm of the beating drums. Preteen boys watch the singer wide-eyed as she straddles a speaker, whipping her long hair wildly. She licks the microphone and drops to the ground, repeatedly thrusting her pelvis toward a camera. Lady Gaga's onstage antics are almost tame compared to this act, known as dangdut, the most popular genre of music in this predominantly Muslim nation of 240 million. Bagwan
A crack team of Commandos must be sent immediately to the United States. If they fail, war must be declared. How can life as we know it possibly continue with this, this Gaga at large? Thailand could maybe muster a team of Commandos on crack.
tominbkk
Personally, I think she is rubbish; a marketing ploy and nothing more. However, if the flag incident She actually has a great voice, and writes some great songs (some, not all), and as well plays piano quite well. What happens to her songs in production as they are prepared for the mass market is something else. She is playing the game though, very much in the way Bowie expertly played the game. Check this vid out. It's not perfect, but it's damend emotional and moving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_GMgkcc2KM

noitom
From the picture above, she does a pretty good caricature of Thais in costume. The flag hanging off the back of the motorcycle seems like no problem. Ministry of Culture should move on. Maybe they have too much time on their hands to make an issue of this. Yunla
a senior ministry official, who declined to be named, said by telephone Basic 'talking point', deliberate and prolonged distraction operation to cause public discussion and steer the media eye away from sensitive or controversial affairs of state. Meaningless pop star joke about fake watches and a minor stage-show item, inflated to cause public outrage and move the public talking point away from the genuinely critical current events of historic importance.
EyesWideOpen
Wait ...a...minute..... Is this same Ministry of " Culture" that made similar noise over couple of girls dancing topless during Songkran ?? That those topless girls were representative of the end of Thai culture ?? And then became very quiet when someone pointed out the official website of the Ministry was covered in topless Thai women?? Sometimes I wonder if their is a Thai word for hypocrisy.... Bagwan
Culture ministry? Maybe it's time to put on a show. (With some culture.) Wow!! Real music. It's been so long. Mickey Rooney doing a Gene Krupa and Lional Hampton all in one, and displaying more talent than the freaky lady that the fuss is all about will ever have. steven100
This could potentially backfire on the government .... If they see this as most people do ... It will surely have negative consequences on the thai government and the Culture ministry !! Watch for further news in the coming days !!! IMO. Rancid
Well I'll write this one off as today’s voyage into the bizarre. Lady Gaga in hot water over Bangkok Concert. Hasn't she like, ah, left already? In Australia I think, and yet she is in hot water from the Thai Ministry of Truth, err Culture? Look we all should really study these inane stories and the imbeciles that write them...then consider...it is the same imbeciles also writing the headlines, telling us about world news, politics, finance. Now let's be honest, how much do you really think you can trust the mainstream media to give you a factual and unbiased report on anything? toenail
I was at the concert and I don't even remember the flag behind the motorcycle. I was too busy looking at the bike and Lady Ga Ga's strange outfit. Sad that the Culture Ministry didn't remember the positive comment the singer gave duing the performance about how she faced difficulty in South Korea and the Phillipines but found the Thai people so warm and friendly (not an exact quote). By the way, as an American, I am offended with the go-go girls on soi Cowboy wearing bikinis of the stars and stripes. I better protest with the State Department. NomadJoe
Guess what, I am going to go with the Thai cultural ministry on this one. It is in poor taste, as a guest, to use a national flag in that manner. Show some manners missy! We are two!!!! The video was posted on ThaiVisa. I have to admit that when I saw the Thai flag used, I was curious how it would be received by Thai's knowing how sensitive to the point of absurdity they can be. KeyserSoze01
The so-called Ministry of Culture should be re-named as the Ministry of Silly Talks. We can only hope that he has a silly walk to go along with his silly talk.

KeyserSoze01
someone asked me once in a conversation 'what do you know about thai culture'? I replied, 'corruption, prostitution, immaturity, lack of common sense, no accountability' Not exactly the answer they wanted but it was good for them to see how other nationalities see it, of course I went on to tell them the good things about thai culture but it is about time this ministry realised exactly how stupid they look when they do things like this. So, did they attack you with steel rods and chunks of wood because you insulted their precious little feelings?

A replay of 1941 with a different country playing the lead role. Sorry, I was only fantasising. Seeing how insensitive Thais are about the display of the swastika I wonder how they would react if farangs wandered around draped with the Rising Sun?
