Try the fresh markets, Kad Sompet has tilapia bbq in the evenings, Kad Luang has chicken, and pork, look for smoke, little stands all over town, follow your nose.

I like the one on the corner of the moat as you head from Airport Plaza into town. Its just after the petrol station and before the school on the left. You can see the nets from Stardome driving range behind it.

Good barbecue to me is not found in Thai restaurants. For me, barbecue is about smoked ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, smoked brisket, cole slaw, texas toast with garlic butter, baked beans, jalapeno peppers, dill pickles and potato salad. Where in the north of Thailand do you find the real thing?

You don't, but there are some really good Thai BBQ places. The one on Kom Pang Din Road near Loi Kroh Road (with the guy BBQing out in front of it all day) is excellent, if you ignore the fact that he has somtom and sticky rice for side dishes instead of cole slaw.

what type of BBQ are you looking for? Western styles are a rarity here in CM, but if you are looking for Thai style then take your pick. A couple of places do Korean or Japanese style BBQ.

For me? when I have the urge, I smoke my own stuff. Or grill my own ribs, YUMMMM.

Oh man, now I'm wishing for a trip to cottage country in Ontario...cool lakes, early morning fishing, the smell of burgers, chicken and ribs all afternoon and into the night...sigh...oh yeah, and the noise from the dipstick neighbour with the chainsaw... laugh.png
