July 11, 201213 yr Does the slang term 'a bun in the oven' to denote pregnancy exist in Thai? If not, can anyone think of what the Thai's use instead. Thanks
July 11, 201213 yr Author It's slang/colloquial terms I am after rather than literal interpretations thanks.
July 11, 201213 yr มีลูกสาวเหมือนมีส้วมอยู่หน้าบ้าน - lit. a daughter like a toilet in the front yard. Found this old Thai saying that maybe fits and implies the girl has eg an unwanted pregnancy that brings shame on the family. As explained in the link, just as the outhouse toilet smells and brings shame on the family so the careless daughter with eg the unwanted pregnancy dishonours her parents. http://th.wikipedia....ทศไทย
July 12, 201213 yr Author Much appreciated, hopefully I will find the closest expression to 'a bun in the oven', or any slang expression that can be used generically and not one that is negative. Thanks for the input though rgs2001uk Given that the Thai's like their buns 'pork buns' and so on, there must be something similar.
July 13, 201213 yr This is the second time I’ve run into the word มุก used in conjunction with pregnancy, but haven’t been able to figure it out. There might be an expression somewhere using มุก. An oyster I guess. แต่สนใจฝ้ายกับลูกในท้องบ้างเถอะ” ฝ้ายยิงมุกผัวเมียสดๆ ฝ้าย is a name. Fai and her husband shot a fresh oyster?
July 13, 201213 yr ^^^^^ มุก, isnt that the word for, pearl? Yes I think it can be either oyster or pearl. I wish to retract my post because I think ยิงมุก maybe means something like sling the B.S., and nothing to do with pregnancy because the girl is not actually pregnant.
