Back in Oz for the winter I want to cook up a few Thai dishes. I found pla ra in a Vietnamese grocer and it's pickled mud fish which I'm looking for but it's a grey colour .

I want to turn it into the dark version by adding shrimp paste and other stuff to make naam pla ra tom.

Anyone know how it's done?

It seems like you've merged 'nam pla' (fish sauce) and 'pla ra' together. I'm not sure. :/ Waiting for others to reply.
