A Walk On "The Dark Side."

Featured Replies

Some months ago there was a post about walks. I've tried to search for it but no luck.

This walk is just off road from the 3240 towards the Khao Mai Kaeo X rds. with the 331

I've looked on Google Earth and there are 2 locations which could be the place.

If anyone knows about this walking area could they please post any thoughts or advice about using it.

Is it safe, public area etc.?

Thanks in anticipation.

Not sure if this is what u r looking for. This is a public park with walk path around a lake of about 200M diameter. It is at the SW corner at the jnct of 3240 and Hwy 7.

That is not the place the OP is looking for the lake and park is about 2km before the 331 on the left side of the 3240 road.

Very nice public park, lake and walks in the forest, pretty safe I would say, hardly ever seen anyone there. Also a bicycle trail and is often used as a Hash venue.

I went to location A and it is indeed a temple and school complex. Just to be on the safe side we asked some people if it was OK to walk around. Yes! The place was almost deserted, a few Thai guys doing a bit of grass cutting etc. We took the walk down to and around the lake and then back to the temple. Not a great distance, took less than 45 mins. We asked if it was possible to walk in the opposite direction ( NW ) but were told no!

Nothing spectacular about this complex ( quite modern ) and we were also asked if we had a dog with us so I presume dogs are NOT allowed! There were quite a few houses amongst the trees and people were building shacks down near the lake. They thought it really funny that farangs wanted to walk around even though we told them it was for excercise.

In all, not really worth the effort!

We drove up to location B but felt like we were intruding into peoples lives so just turned around and went home.
