Just back from immigration to extend my non B visa because WP not ready due to change of registration documents of company. Provided letter from Labour adressed to immigration and requesting to extend my visa with an explamation why WP is delayed. Immigration refused saying can only extend visa based on WP - letter from labour not valid. Actually they first accepted and stamped extension into PP, seemed it went higher up but then extension was stamped VOID into PP. Seems I now need to leave and request a new non B from embassy or consulate. Any suggestion where to go and request a new non B with the letter from Labour?

Laos or Malaysia should do fine, but no guarantees at it is not a common situation you are in. Maybe email them first and see if you get a reply.

You could get a 7 day extension from immigration for 1,900 baht.

Normal that immigration will not issue an extension without WP, even if there is proof of an ongoing WP application; they will also not be interested in any other letters, phone calls from the Labour Dept, etc.

The OP will need a fresh WP3 or WP1 receipt (or a current Letter of Acceptance) from Labour plus all the other usual papers to get a new Single Entry 90 Day Non Immigrant Type 'B'.

What a pain...because this means also a trip for dependents, incl. little children to get them a new non-O. Of course, the Vientiane embassy does not process visas for nationals from Africa (my wife in this case)...

A recent posting on this forum reported a check list for Vientiane which listed a Letter of Acceptance and not the WP3 Receipt.

Labour need quite a few days notice to produce a Letter of Acceptance as it needs the Head of Dept Signature - so make sure you plan ahead if you are going to Vientiane.

Thanks digitalchromakey! Actually, I have the acceptance letter...still no use for us to go to Vientiane as my wife will not be issued a visa there.
