I was wondering if anybody has any recomondation for webhosting companies in Thailand? I need one that supports PHP/mySQL, CGI-Bin, JSP, etc.

Or any suggestions on websites (they can be in Thai) that would have a list of companies?

Thanks.

One more question:

How can one tell where the servers of a hosting company really are?

Is there anyway to make sure they are physically located in Thailand as opposed to being some reseller outfit located in another country?

Do you really *need* to have your website physically located in Thailand? If you aren't transferring massive amounts of data all the time, you would be a lot better off with something in the US.

Thailand hosts are generally more expensive and less reliable.

Very happy with 3ix (US).

Well the reason I am was thinking in Thailand was that once in a while when on tries to access websites out of Thailand it does not work for a few hours. This happened a few weeks ago to me. There is a bottleneck at access gateways of internet traffic in and out of Thailand.

Ok I probably not using the correct terms and perfect description, but some here should know what I mean. This has also been covered a few times in the Bangkok Post.

I've got a website hosted in the U.S and had to switch ISP to access it from Thailand. I care more about reliability for people outside Thailand being able to acces the site which I would never host here.

What kind of support would you get with hosting in Thailand?

A good compromise would be to get hosting from a Thai company that has its servers abroad (i.e. in the US). That way you get local support and back up if/ when things go wrong, as well as proper VAT receipts etc that can be used for accounting purposes, if necessary - plus the reliablity of the foreign servers.

Personally, I use a company called Visual Web Thailand (not sure if I am allowed to post url, do a web search, they come up easily enough), who have excellent service in Thai, English and German. Bangkok-based but servers in America.

Okay here is a hard part, an easy part….and a funny part

The hard part :D

Some questions you might have to ask yourself first.

Who are the users of your site are they Thais, Americans, Asians or Europeans?

What kind of content do you have…is it something you sell or is it free?

If it is something you sell you should have the best solution to the user otherwise they will go somewhere else. The same goes if you are planning on having banners on your site.

If it is free information or similar they might still stay there despite poor access.

If you sell something like shoes online or other “hardware” people might not care if the loading time is a bit to slow sometimes.

Do you need to be sure your users have 24 hours access then you really should check the support of the server solution by writing to them at shit o clock or calling them and ask and see how long time it takes for any to write back or answer the phone.

What kind of server do you want? Is it just a shared hosting? Is it a dedicated server?

If shared hosting remember if in the US or other non Thai server solutions you might share the server with a porn site giving heavy traffic to everything but your part of the server.

If you want a US server you should check if you have access to it from Thailand, be sure your internet provider doesn’t block for access to their control panel.

They might do because some servers on that location might have porno, casino or betting.

How much space do you need on the server? In Thailand the solutions are very small so forget about a Thai server if you want video streaming.

What about traffic, I hope you will get a lot of visitors but what if someone shows your www address on lets say CNN or TV7 and one million decides to give it a try at the same time…will they close your server?

The price on server solutions in Thailand is so high that you can buy your own IBM or DELL server for the same price as an annual fee.

The WORST thing you could do was to take a Thai provider who uses a reseller account on a US server. Then you would have to fight with two support teams.

Check what kind of access you have and need, is it FTP access or do you want a simple control panel access?

If you choose a Thai server solution with promises of 24 hour support, fire protection, Turbo GTI 16 valve aircon and so on…go visit them and see for yourself if the server room is a promised.

The easy part :o

http://www.thaihostsave.com/

http://www.bangkokwebhosting.com/

And this one http://www.hostsearch.com/ and it is actually a Thai company who runs this site.

Or this one http://www.webwebhost.com/ i found it....well on this site at the bottom of this page :D

The Funny part :D

With a promotion price of 5000 baht per month is so expensive that you would be better of buying the dell sever pictured in the promotion yourself for 40.000 baht

equal to 8 month payment.
