PATTAYA:--A Frenchman was arrested by Pattaya Police on Friday accused of attempting to withdraw 20,000 Baht from a Siam Commercial Bank ATM.

The bank had already contacted the Police to inform them that a foreign man was known to be using a fake ATM card to withdraw cash at various ATM’s around Pattaya between 8th and 15th August. The bank were tracking him and placed an urgent call to Police on Friday when a fake card was used in front of the Lek Hotel in South Pattaya.

Police arrived and detained a 26 year old French National known only as “Mr Jeremy” who was then escorted to his rented apartment at the Palm Grove Resort in the Na-Jomtien area where a total of 19 fake cards were seized.

The account details related to French Bank account holders only. A press conference was held at the Region 2 Police Headquarters on Friday afternoon led by Police Lieutenant General Panya, Region 2 Police Commissioner, who was told that the suspect chose Pattaya because the area is full of foreign nationals

See, every time a headline like this shows up in my inbox, I keep thinking, "Please, don't let him be African!"

Always seems to be a French national of North African origin, apart from from the two Brits who towed the entire ATM machine out of the wall.....dear oh dear.

I can't imagine he'll be banged-up for long for fraud - maybe a hefty fine, compensation to the victims and then deported back to la belle Francais ? bon voyage 'Monsieur Jeremy'

I think you could be wrong ?ermm.gif
