If contsted, sole custody is only rewarded if the other spouse is (menatly) uncapable or considered a danger to the child. You have to think in terms of using drugs and mental illness and have proof of it. Normally it is more a question of who will be the prime caretaker and who will get the child maybe a few days per week or month.
