Pregnancy And Birth In Phuket

Featured Replies

Hello,

I will move to Phuket around Christmas this year when I'll be 6 months pregnant. I am due to give birth in Phuket on 16th March.

Can anyone please help with recommending the following:

- A good obstetrician and hospital who promotes natural childbirth (I want to avoid caesarean if possible unless necessary for me or the baby)

- Good prenatal classes or hypnobirthing

Thanks a million for your help

Katherine

katherine, as i do believe it's mostly men on this forum, you should google chicky net thailand. sign up for an account there, and you can ask many ladies who have given birth in phuket for the answers you are seeking.

I am pregnant. Can I still fly?

Yes, provided you meet AirAsia carriage policy for pregnant guests:

(a) Pregnancy up to 27 weeks (inclusive): AirAsia will accept the guest without a doctor's certificate provided the guest signs a Limited Liability Statement.

(B) Pregnancy between 28 weeks to 34 weeks (inclusive): guest shall produce a doctor's certificate confirming the number of weeks of pregnancy, which shall be dated not more than 30 days from either the scheduled outbound or inbound flight departure date (as the case may be). It is highly recommended that the doctor's certificate includes a statement to the effect that guest is fit to travel. The passenger will also need to sign a Limited Liability Statement.

© Pregnancy 35 weeks and above: AirAsia will refuse carriage

However, to avoid any inconvenience, AirAsia highly recommends you to procure the doctor's certificate. The contents of the letter should conform to paragraph (B) above.

every airline has its one rules.

check with Bangkok Hospital Phuket or Phuket Internationational hospital

but money money money :)

You should also check on Mission Hospital. At all 3, it may take some shopping around to find a doc supportive of what you want as it is quite different from normal Thai practice (which tends to regard vaginal delivery as something reserved for the lower classes only and c-section as the normal thing for all who can afford it). .

I am moving this to the family and children forum where you are more likely to find someone who can provide specific ob-gyn recommendations
