It's good that you don't find a open port, that it's means you have a good protection.

You can choose open the port by enable the "UPnP" "Port mapping" or "port forwarding" if that options not exist in the advanced configuration of your software, or not work. You must open the port by yourself, port mapping or forwarding in the router and opening the port in your firewall. (this need previous knowledge, since you can easily block part or all of your internet connection)

I can help you but you must answer this

For what program you need to open a port? example: utorrent, ares, emule...

What is your ISP? example: TOT, True, 3BB...

What is the model of your router?

You need to go to your router or modem and look in the back part the "Model" or "Model Number"

Exapmple: Billion 5200G, Linksys WRT54GL...

What firewall you use?

For example: Comodo, Norton Security, Firewall of Windows...

ok!

I recomend you to download Utorrent have advanced configurations for port issues and traffic shaping so your downloads will be faster.

To by pass the port problem by uPnP do this.

Open Utorrent go to Options -> Preferences -> Connection -> and in the Listening Port check all this checkbox

x Enabled uPnP port Mapping (this is an automated port forwarding)

x Enable NAT PMP port Mapping (this is an automated port forwarding)

x Add Windows Firewall Exception (this open the port in your firewall if it's open a window check OK)

The random port it's better to left disabled, or change manualy if you think that True is blocking or speed down your port (very strange)

Get some torrents from the metasearch torrentz.eu and wait one minute, if everything it is ok you must see a green ticket in the bottom right of your utorrent.

If not we need to go inside the router:

this page help you to get inside your router http://support2.truecorp.co.th/detail.aspx?document_id=29

this can help to open the port

follow exacly the instructions

don't care about disabling the firewall in the router...

and you need an static ip... I need to go out now but try the first and if not work, later me or another user can keep helping you.

Thanks for the detailed explanations,

I kinda took a shine to Vuze rather than utorrents that had slowed my Internet connections to a crawl

and now Vuze is doing the same,

I have tried before to enter the configuration interface of the router but despite all of my tries

all i can get is the the screen capture below, and without properly configuring the router to function correctly

i'm afraid i will always have a problem using torrents or any other activities that need an open ports,

uTorrent has automatic mapping. Dont listen to Gabs, hes opening permanent ports in ya firewall!!!. All ya settings are in ya router NOT YOUR PC.

Lower your global upload limit to like 3-5 kbs. Dont try and download everything at once as your out-goings connections will be high. Why not use uTorrent, its quite clear your not tech savvy.

Sayonarax- what is the risk of opening a p2p port in his PC?

Opening ports allows a door way to be opened for hackers to use.

Check https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

One might think, well why would a hacker bother targeting me?

Bot-Nets, I own several web servers in the UK and there constantly attacked by Chinese bot armys.

I think that's going a bit far. You can't gain access to a PC in any meaningful way via a p2p port. You cannot open other ports without some script already being on the machine in question (and the p2p port in these cases is only used for "activating" a pre-existing script).

Pretty much all the things you can do with a p2p port require some earlier exploitation or vulnerability (DDoS being a notable exception, and not exactly "hacking"). However, your advice not to open ports is good practice, and I only jumped on you because I thought ITGlabs advice was not to be so quickly dismissed as you did.

your welcome ;)

Sorry,,here is my attached Zytel interface that i get after following all the instructions,post-24809-0-08223400-1346305390_thumb.j

that it's the status page, you need to find the area to input the user and pass like in this page http://support2.truecorp.co.th/detail.aspx?document_id=29 (instructions from True, exacly for your model) you must get a page like the image 5 of this tutorial (you don't need to follow the step to put your adsl user pass or configure the wifi), so in the menu of the left you will get more options and from that step you can jump to the video tutorial, maybe you can find another in youtube, are many of them.

Don't worry about that sayonarax says, time ago when the computers connenct directly to the internet, uPnP (not p2p) was a big problem but in relation of security problems on windows XP, now uPnP it's very mature and you are behind a router plus preconfigured by your ISP it's impossible that someone use a port to hack you (usually only 137, 138, 139, 445), all the risk now are about installing something from internet especially from p2p (torrent, emule, ares, etc) usually cracks, keygen, or malware inside applications, the rest is only get everything update, flash, java, .net IE FF or Chrome, antivirus firewall or security patchs from MS.

usually I download a lot of things and some keygens too :P a good way to detect false positives is upload the cracks or keygens to this page, that will check in more that 40 trusted antivirus www.virustotal.com users can give feedback about the files and you will easy know if it's a legitimate keygen or only a virus.
