The article is stupid.

It does not properly categorize the percentages and distinguish them into the demographics from the first paragraph. The reader cannot know which percentage is from which percentage.

Furthermore, the article does not clarify information from opinion and expressed feelings, which are abundant throughout.

It is confusing and the added comments of the over confident and extremely ignorant Thai youth only further add to the ridiculousness of any attempt at correct identification of the matter, whatever that is.

What a waste of Ethernet.

I am 100% convinced the Thais will find a way to not implement the ASEAN agreements in 2015, reasoning along the line 'it would be unfair to force these agreements onto Thailand because we are not prepared well enough, which would put us at a disadvantage'. rolleyes.gif Mark my words.

They're certainly doing their best not to change the appropriate laws to cover the agreements. Even some of the agreements that should be in action now, don't have the law changes required to make them work.

I am sure one law of Asean allows for 88% ownership of a buiness by an agreed date. That will upset one certain group I know of

From what I know, the AEC will allow ASEAN (non-Thai) owned companies to operate in Thailand (and vice-versa). I believe there are restrictions (of course). I'll see if I can find out some info on what's allowed and what's not.

Edit: in one of my posts above, it talks about ownership of companies being dependant on local laws ... so there is no agreement for any specific ASEAN ownership percentage.

Its complicated but tge way i read it, an Asean company can have wholly owned Thai subsidiary in any industry.

If an asean country allows wholly owned foreign companies, thus they can have a wholly owned subsidiary in Thailand. In theory this could allow entry into restricted industries in Thailand. Will believe it when I see it though. Wholly owned subsidiaries of asean companies which could be say from the EU or USA buying rice?

Teach everyone Phassa Isaan, 5 or 6 grunts in various tones and you have mastered the language that most Thais speak in Thailand! cheesy.gif However, they have to remember to be munching their Som Tam and Pa-La at the same time as picking their noses and scratching their A***s. Cannot get those tones mixed up, ASEAN would collapse. cheesy.gif

Don't forget the frog sounds, Hmmm Ahhh - Hmmm Ahhhhh - Ahhhh

BTW, picking nose and scratching A***s is definately Burmese,

Thai's are more advanced, they scratch their D***s too.

Thais will understand one day, that Thailand is not the centre of the Universe! In fact they should not be allowed to get involved in International/regional issues, it only goes to make things worse and cloud matters.

They should clean up their own shop first before meddling in something as complex as ASEAN.

They should do what they do best, and that is to plant and pick their rice, take their buffaloes and cows out in the fields, shimmy up and down coconut trees for their daily "Nuts", drink their Laow Kao, play their Thai Rummy and Hi Lo, lie, steal and cheat all farangs around and kill on occasion, oh and dont forget to tamboon every Sunday to cleanse oneself of all sins commited during the week.

Go back to the forests and climb back up your trees where you came from, and leave the normal folk alone.wai.gif

Hey bunjijohn, Thais were one of the founding members of ASEAN back 1967, due to there diplomacy between Malaysia and Indonesia. The unfortunate thing is, Thai pride.
