Trump & Biden Share Starkly Different Holiday Messages as Leadership Transition Approaches

Featured Replies

As the transition between administrations draws near, President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump each shared holiday messages that reflected their distinct priorities and styles. While Biden struck a tone of unity and compassion, Trump’s festive greetings ventured into geopolitical commentary, including remarks about Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.

President Biden, addressing the nation on X, reflected on the season’s spirit and his presidency’s impending conclusion. "As this will be my last Christmas message as president, I hope our country will continue to seek the light of liberty and love, kindness and compassion, dignity and decency," he wrote. He also extended a warm Hanukkah greeting, saying, "As Hanukkah begins, may it shine from menorahs around the world."

Meanwhile, on Truth Social, Trump began his holiday outreach with a traditional Merry Christmas message, accompanied by a video featuring himself and Melania Trump. The video paid homage to Christianity and expressed gratitude to those who safeguard the United States. However, Trump soon shifted his focus to more unconventional topics, including international relations and taxation.

Trump singled out Canada, suggesting it could benefit from becoming the 51st U.S. state. "Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada," he wrote, "your citizens pay taxes that are far too high. If Canada were to become our 51st State, their taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World."

He also turned his attention to Greenland, claiming its importance to U.S. national security and asserting that the United States should play a more significant role there. "To the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes, and, who want the U.S. to be there, and we will!"

Trump didn’t stop there. He referenced the Panama Canal, alleging that Chinese soldiers were "lovingly, but illegally," operating it. He suggested that the canal should return to U.S. control if Panamanian authorities failed to lower fees for American ships.

These remarks align with Trump’s past comments on the three regions. He has previously floated the idea of purchasing Greenland, proposed annexing Canada during border negotiations, and expressed dissatisfaction with Panama Canal fees, hinting at a U.S. takeover. Axios’ Dave Lawler observed that such statements are often designed to provoke leaders like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

While Biden’s farewell Christmas message emphasized unity, hope, and goodwill, Trump’s blended holiday greetings with bold geopolitical assertions, showcasing the contrasting approaches the two leaders bring to the world stage as the presidential baton is set to pass.

Donnie left out the bits about peace on earth and goodwill to all men, together quite unaccountably with any mention of meekness and humility!

They're all in the opening chapters of that Bible you are grifting Donnie...

It is a bit rich for Trump to complain about rapists.

Are there any other democracies in the world that would vote in an elderly man who wears makeup and who was found by a court to be a rapist and then complain about other rapists?

Americans are very unique.

I can see American going backwards under Trump again like during his first term which was a complete disaster economically, figures propped up by the biggest money printing ever seen.

I seem to remember Stephanopoulos like to mistakenly use the word " rape" also.  That cost him $15 mil.  The woke just can't help themselves when it comes to name calling.

Plan: A lightning "coup de main" operation to seize Greenland, followed, after a brief "phoney war" by a Blitzkrieg campaign to overwhelm and seize Central America, Mexico and down to and including the Panama Canal. Then a few months to consolidate forces and reorganise, and then Northwards into the vast open spaces of Canada!

Now where have I heard of such a plan before...

You are correct, he WAS not found by a court to be a rapist, but some of the members of this board are let's say less than truthful, I was using a euphemism as its Christmas!

Solely due to a technicality in that NY law states rape is penetration using a penis.....Trump used his fingers and other objects so could not be found guilty of rape.

What a man.

You seem to forget Trump is the gold medalist in name calling.

But then, most of his supporters graduated summa cum laude in doublethink.

It was a civil case, you can't be found 'guilty' only liable, but he wasn't found liable for rape either, only liable for sexual assault!

I have been giving it a break for my sanity I’m not and don’t cry but I’m deeply concerned that we collectively have elected this obiously mentally ill destructive trustfund baby to lead the most powerful nation on the planet.it is not a republican /democrat choice for me thaipo.I fear we and the rest of the civilized world will regret this blunder.

By now nobody should be surprised that Trump is such an ahole. But I have to admit I am still speechless that so many people voted for him. What kind of person want to be represented by Trump?

IMO Trump lies when he does his name calling, whereas Biden is being truthful.

Wonderful logic. He is less of a sexual predator because he used his fingers instead of his dick?

Check out the average American IQ.

What he has done is make it acceptable to feed the hate that had been hidden in so many citizens. Project 2025, the handbook for White Christian Nationalists to turn the US into a full-fledged Orwellian nightmare, is just a few weeks away. If you aren't White, you're out. If you're not a Nationalist Christian in accordance to THEIR archaic beliefs, you're out. Muslim bans are coming back, you watch. School lunches for needy kids are out, Christian Nationalist classes in schools along with mandatory purchases of bibles sold by the grifter in chief will be in.

The US is in for some dark times. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I'd bet my bottom dollar a year from now all this garbage will come true.

People are fed up with the current situation.

It's not the IQ, it's the intentional systematic destruction of the educational system. The average US citizen is now  below the 6th grade reading level. Decades ago it was mandatory to pass a basic civics course in ALL schools, public and private, in order to graduate high school. That was one of the first things to go. If you don't understand what your rights are, you won't know when they are being violated. I honestly don't know how the US will ever pull out of this.

Have you considered that the DEMs voters were not exactly excited about Biden and then Harris?

IMHO Trump is worse. But few people will pretend the DEMs had a decent candidate or message.
