"I understand the service is only available in Bangkok"

Not much use in the CM forum then.

Getting a re-entry permit in CM is a piece of cake..

I don't think he can read or he reads selectively! Use your bloody dah (eyes)!

I hope they do bring in online re-entry. It would cut a lot of hassle out! Do you pay online too? wai.gif

Well if you still have to pick it up at immigration I would imagine you would pay there.

On a side note. I extended my Retirement visa for a year. It took 7 hours there. Longest I have ever waited. The wife's fault as she did not want to be there at 7:00. No other complaints met several nice people had a nice meal in the little restaurant in the back and got to read some more of my book on Genghis Khan.

When we left I looked at the number of people they had serviced and at 2:45 it was over 250 people. Now I don't know about other people but I consider that a lot of work.

One other thing I noticed was that many of the Burmese went through other lines when it came to the final stamp on the passport all passports went through the back room. There by extending my stay about one hour.

All you do is fill in the tm8 you still have to go to immigration in Bangkok, to have re-entry stamped into passport. as it is the only office offered.

Ha Ha no I didn't they only have about ten or twelve slots available on line and you have to order months ahead to get it.

When I left they were processing the 26th applicant. And I don't know if that included the ones who had reserved time slots. I am reasonably sure it did not as the numbers are dispensed out of the machine and if you have a reservation you would not need one. My whole interview took less than ten minutes. I had all my papers and pictures ready. I noticed many didn't and had to go to the back to get there picture taken or papers copied.

When we had lunch back there I noticed many people in line for photo copies or their picture. I think it depends on who you see. The wife had photo copied every previous years stamp and the lady who served me assured me they were needed. Don't recall the fellow last year asking for them.

But the wife was prepared.

another way to get re-entry permit is at the airport. Last 3 times leaving (in last 12 months) i have seen the station upstairs (after you pass immigration) manned and a sign saying Re-entry permit available.

I was at the airport a few weeks ago and at the downstairs immigration point I asked if the upstairs station does indeed issue the permits and they replied - Yes, it does.

Do they issue multiple entry permits if you have the proper paper work with you.

Or do you know if they would even have the forms. One fellow I met at immigration had to wait about one hour to get his yesterday. He got his retirement extension in the morning and stil had to wait untill the afternoon to get the multiple reentry.

Ok guys, I just removed some 'testy' inflammatory posts and responses to it. Not everyone can get an online queue reservation in the time window they require. I got my queue number around 6+ months ago for yesterday appointment for my work extension. Appointment was for 11 called at nearly exactly 11. Having reserved that far out and their change over to only 100 days in advance I was concerned it may have gotten 'lost' but they still had it.

My understanding is that the new online form for re-entry permits is Bangkok only.

Hopefully this will be extended to other locales soon.

e-gov is the wave of the future; the sooner it is done, the faster and easier it will be for all.

On topic, I was in for a 1 yr retirement extension Monday this week.

The re-entry permit took maybe 20 minutes total.

Form filled, photo, passport copies, payment.

Really it is usually less in total time spent than a 90 day address reporting in person, when the place is mobbed.

;)
