CHIANG MAI NIGHT SAFARI TO OPEN OFFICIALLY ON FEB 6.

Chiang Mai Night Safari will open officially on February 6 during the mobile cabinet meeting in the province, preparing to show the rare white tigers received from China.

Director of the Chiang Mai Night Safari, Pisan Wasuwanich (พิศาล วสุวานิชย์) said that the mobile cabinet meeting will be held in the province on February 6-7. He said that the zoo believes it is a good opportunity to open the safari officially on the evening of February 6. He said the event will be presided by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Pisan said that the cabinet will be shown rare white tigers given by Pan Yu (แพนยู) Night Safari in China to Chiang Mai Night Safari. The animals are considered the world’s rare animals, as there are only 200 white tigers around the world. The cabinet will also ride electric cable cars to view the beautiful sceneries around the Chiang Mai Night Safari, before a dinner and performances organized by the zoo.

The mobile cabinet meeting will be held at Wareekunchorn (วารีกุญชร) room in Chiang Mai Night Safari. The zoo will close to the public on February 7 for one day to accommodate the cabinet meeting.

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Thanks for the warning. Time to be elsewhere methinks.

(Wonder if White Tiger tastes any different than the normal brown stripey ones?)

250 Baht for Thai, 400 Baht for Foreigners :o

So the Government/Council is finally meeting in a ZOO...says it all really....but somehow I dont think they would get it :D:D

Hang on to your kids if you have any - no, not the because of the tigers - there are big drop-offs here and there, particularly the steps leading up to the restaurant, ie - no rails. Apart from bumping into 3 or 4 wheelbarrow-wielding workmen whilst strolling around the Jaguar Trail (around the lake), being blinded by arc welding, getting SFA information off the nonse behind the counter, finding out that there were, in fact, no free rides until 21:30, the other night, it wasn't too bad.

Anyone know what they are building at the intersection of the canal road and the road to the Park? Wish they would hurry and get it done, gets congested there in the morning to work and back. Someone at work mentioned a bridge but don't know if it is over, under or just a 4-way juction.

A narrow (one or two lane) bridge over the Irrigation-Canal, for the millions of tourists expected to come see the Night Safari, I trust it will be completed in time for Poo-Yai Night ? :D

Only 1 week to go , must start dieting, so as to do full justice to the opening-night buffet ! :o

If it is, it will probably have been rushed into completion, and utterly unsafe for pedestrian traffic :o

I'm celebrating the opening in Bangkok, let me know if any of the cabinet are unfortunate enough to get eaten by a rare white tiger :D

Despite being bombarded with allegations of irregularities and fierce opposition to the project, Mr Plodprasop said he would go ahead with the next stage of the Night Safari, which is part of the government's ambitious plan to turn the ancient northern city of Chiang Mai into a world-class tourism hub.

Oh lord....not another hub :o

Chiang Mai Safari to Kick Off Feb 6.

Chiang Mai Night Safari will be officially opened on February 6, when a mobile cabinet meeting will be taking place in the province.

Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Plodprasob Suratsawadee (ปลอดประสพ สุรัสวดี) revealed that the opening ceremony of Chiang Mai Night Safari will take place this February 6, with prime Minister Thaksin Shinnwat presiding over the event.

On this occasion, cabinet members have been invited for a reception banquet at the Safari as they will be in Chiang Mai for the mobile cabinet meeting. The safari would still open for the public on February 6, but it is expected that severe traffic will occur inside the zoo as more than 40 trams will be operated to transport up to 500 government officials.

As for February 7, Chiang Mai night safari will be closed in the morning, but normal services will resume in the afternoon.
