PM hands out Yongyuth jobs to Chalerm, others

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra yesterday delegated most of the responsibilities of former deputy prime minister Yongyuth Wichaidit to Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung.

Following the weekly Cabinet meeting, Yingluck said that Deputy Interior Minister Chuchart Harnsawat was also delegated the responsibilities of Yongyuth in his capacity as interior minister.

Yongyuth resigned as deputy PM and interior minister after a penalty against him related to the Alpine golf course scandal.

Yingluck said Chalerm would replace Yongyuth in supervising the Interior Ministry, the Civil Service Commission, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre, and the government committee following up on proposals of the Truth for Reconciliation Commission.

She said Deputy PM Kittirat Na Ranong would replace Yongyuth in supervising the Transport Ministry.

The supervision of the National Office of Buddhism and the Social Development and Human Security Ministry was delegated to Deputy Prime Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapha.

Yingluck said she would not reshuffle her Cabinet now as she would like current ministers to speed up their work and be ready to help possible victims of flooding likely after approaching storms.

Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyaphirom denied yesterday that Yaowapha Wongsawat, a sister of the PM and former premier Thaksin, who leads a faction of Pheu Thai MPs in the north, had been denied more Cabinet seats for her faction. Boonsong said Yingluck would have the final say on any Cabinet reshuffle and Yaowapha had not interfered.

Thaicom yields to UDD demand

The People Channel, the mouthpiece of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, resumed its broadcast late Friday afternoon after talks between UDD leaders and Thaicom executives, according to television reports.

Representing the UDD in the talks were Jatuporn Prompan and Nathawut Saikua and Puea Thai MPs Karun Hosakul and Chuchart Harnsawat.

With the Deputy Interior Minister moved up to Interior Minister, his vacated seat is waiting for someone that was mentioned for it.

Another very reasonable looking member.

the irony highlighted further by the man recommending him is the outgoing Interior Minister:

Pheu Thai Party Leader Yongyuth Wichaidit said his group's party-list MP Jatuporn Prompan, also a red-shirt core leader, is qualified to the post of Deputy Interior Minister given he adequately understands problems of the people.

The only thing he is qualified for is serving time in jail for threatening to burn down central Bangkok.

Chalerm, hmmm, well we all know where that is going and of course motor mouth Jutaporn, what a great 'interior minister' he would make. And people still vote for this rabble. I hope as per the other post this morning the rice scam scheme will bring these fools down before they get their greedy little mits on the country's coffers. And if these two get it on, you can imagine how Ms Yingluck will then look - a total puppet unable to bring her cabinet to heel and the puppet master will care not at all as Ms Yingluck is just another expendable pawn - even family - in his obsessed narcissistic game of power.

I have my doubts AW if anyone voted for any of those mentioned.

From what I understand they are all list MP's.

I thought at one point that Jutaporn had all the qualifications for a PT cabinet post, jail time, out on bail, suspended sentance, etc etc.

But on farther thought there is one thing he lacks; A well honed sense of avoiding responsibility.

The supervision of the National Office of Buddhism and the Social Development and Human Security Ministry was delegated to Deputy Prime Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapha.

This would be the Yutthasak Sasiprapha who said in response to the recent news that a driver was recently found decapitated and his body burned in the South, 'that people now feel safer in the South because the government has effectively handled the situation. More people are willing to work in the deep Southern provinces'

I am not sure that things are finalised as these seem like caretaker appointments. Appointing a new interior minister and deputy minister will require royal commands and I don't think Chuchart can sign things that by law require the minister's signature. Reassigning responsibilities of deputy prime ministers is, however, something the PM can do by herself, since they are already appointed by royal command and the duties of deputy PMs are not specified. Chalerm seems to be getting more and more powerful.

National Office of Buddhism and the Social Development and Human Security Ministry

This is a ministry?

A rather infamous ministry... here's a sample of a couple of them...with the likes of Arisaman connected...

indicted eight individuals for corruption relating to 1.2 Billion Baht in kickbacks over construction of the Ua Athorn housing project.

They included former Social Development and Human Security Minister Watana Muangsook, his aide Mana Wongpipat, and former MP Arisman Pongruangrong.

A joint committee of the National Anti-Corruption Commission and public prosecutors agreed Wednesday to file corruption charges against former Social Development and Human Security Minister Watana Muangsook.

NACC Spokesman Klanarong Chanthik said the joint committee agreed to sue Watana in the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Political Office Holders on charges that he had demanded kickbacks from bidders of the Ua Arthorn housing projects for the low-income people.

==========================================================================

Social Development and Human Security Minister Sutha Chansaeng decided to resign from the post, effective immediately, Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej told reporters Thursday. Secretary of Sutha, Anake Hutankabodi, said Sutha resigned because he is not healthy.

He is being probed following reports that he did not hold a bachelor's degree, as stipulated in the constitution for a cabinet minister.

He is also accused of refusing to report assets and debts of illegitimate children to the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) as required by law.

I like to think for myself. Do you have the facts to hand about the "reported" incidents above, any follow up?

It seems as if you have problems with people having a different opinion to yourself, you do understand how debate works , right?

Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth resigns

October 4, 2012 1:57 pm

Yongyuth Wichaidit has declared resignation as an MP and Pheu Thai Party's Leader on Thursday.

The resignation is effective immediately.

Yongyuth resigned from the posts of the first Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister on Friday after National Anti-Corruption Commission indicted him in June as malfeasance in the Alpine scandal.

Have lost track of what number the Pheu Thai Party-list MP roster is at, but there's a fair chance another of the Red Shirts is up to bat as a new MP with the resignation of Yongyuth.

The roster was stacked with them from the single digit numbers like Natthawut all the way up to the 125 they had on it, so there's a strong possibility there'll be another in Parliament.
