Rice

Featured Replies

I'll admit I find rice terribly boring. I saw this video from Gordon Ramsay & loved it, he added star anise and cardamom seeds and I have to say it was really fantastic. I only added one cardamom seed & two star anise.

Anyone else know any rice recipes ?

Plain rice is boring, but it can be great with something on it.

Had rice for lunch today. Cooked the rice in the rice cooker, nothing but water. While it was cooking I chopped a tin of anchovies and a couple of schallots. Fried them in a little olive oil in a small pan. Added a handful of frozen peas, a splash of water and a little pepper. Put on a cover and boiled until done. Then added a big "glob" of butter.

Mixed the peas with some rice. Put it on a plate and topped it with a good peice of crispy skinned fish that I had fried and topped that with some lemon, butter caper sauce.

It was wonderful and definetly not boring!

Jeera rice.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds before cooking the plain rice. They should be toasted first but it's still very nice if you don't.

i like rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves w00t.gif

Rice is so cheap, you can experiment until your heart is content. I add all sorts of things, depending on mood and what we're eating it with.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
