SATTAHIP: -- A Truck wreck causes havoc and a local power outage at Sattahip

At 9.30 on Thursday, Police and emergency services were called to the Harbour road in Sattahip, south of Pattaya, after a Navy employee managed to knock down a Utility pole and destroy his own truck in the process.

The employee, by some miracle, survived the accident, ( see photographs below) and was taken to hospital for a full check up before meeting with police to make a full report. His truck, however, fared less well. The cab was totally crushed by the re-enforced concrete pole and the engine compartment destroyed during the impact.

Power supplies were temporarily suspended for the area after the Toyota hilux truck left the road and collided, at obviously some speed, with the stationary concrete pole, bringing it down upon the truck and its driver.

Thank God the utility pole was not moving or things could have been worse

Renforced pole? It does not seem to be much of rebars inside that pole. And what about the bicycle at the front of the car in one picture? Was it on the truck or did he hit someone on the bike?

Yet another TIT-story.. Just a general thought here. After following the news all kinds of incidents in this country it's obvious that accuracy in journalism isn't something where this country leaves its sleep for. Popularism and sensation seem to be the standard. Come on wanna-be-journalists, take it a bit more serious when you report something to the public. Remaining objective, intelligence and proper investigation are keywords if you want to become a journalist one day..

After living around that Navy base for four years, seeing thousands of accidents, most by Navel personal racing towards the base

they drive in the same way they push there self to the counter a a local store. They just shove their way through. If you tap your horn

they jump out of their cars and act like they are going to pull a gun..

Bottom line WHO CARES save your time print about how they would just assume run over a child then stop. This goes for the military women and spouses.

Pole

Almost a foreigner to blame, that one. :(

You used the right words there. Fabulous Wanna-be-journalists.
