LongTimeLurker
I've booked hotels on Agoda many times before using my UK Visa debit card but trying to make a booking this evening produced a message that they only accept credit cards from Visa, Mastercard etc. I entered everything twice with no luck. Have they stopped accepting Debit cards or is this just a glitch in their system / me?
sirineou
Does your Debit card have the Visa ot Master Card logo on it? if so they should accept it. I used Agoda a few months ago and payed with my debit card no problem. Give Agoda a call.

naboo
I gave up with them, booking through the hotel was always cheaper.
David Barker
I gave up with them, booking through the hotel was always cheaper. Never found that at all usually use Agoda Tried booking Baiyoke direct on line & phone rubbish price turned up at the checkin desk they gave me the same price booked with Agoda on my phone whilst standing there and saved 35%. thaigold
Better yet, just call the hotel direct - negotiate a commercial bulk rate - and be done with it.
RabC
Up until about 18 months ago I always used agoda, wotif, hotels.com and got the best deal, but now I go direct to the Hotel and seem to get far better rates.
davejones
I gave up with them, booking through the hotel was always cheaper. Last hotel I stayed at they wanted more than Agoda. They actually told me to book through Agoda to save money. Very strange that they'd rather give Agoda commission than let me pay direct. All the hotels I've booked on Agoda have been cheaper than booking direct. I always check. Edited November 23, 2012 by davejones
lannaman
There seems to be a problem using a debit card provided by LloydsTSB. When I tried to book airline tickets I was told LloydsTSB has been blacklisted in Thailand.
TukTukDodger
They do take paypal - if your paypal account is linked to your debit card bank account then that is one way to pay if agoda won't accept the debit card directly.
LongTimeLurker
Turns out the glitch was with me not entering the right numbers. All's OK now. Agoda invariably offer the best rates for the hotels I want, better than or same as direct from the hotel but it's always worth comparing on hotelscombined first. falang07
just beware that Agoda charges $15 for cancelling a booking, even several months before. Better use booking.com or other sites where you can change/cancel the booking for free.
