I used to be able to make up back up copies of vcds from my local vcd shop. A vcd should take up less than 700 MB per disc but when I put it on my pc, my pc reads that it has taken up over a GB!

Is there any software out there that can allow me to get past this? I am sick of paying fines for late returns. If I can back up copies I can watch them at my leisure
