PHUKET: Phuket Police tentatively identified the man murdered execution style and left in a rubber plantation on Patong Hill as Hungarian businessman Peter Reisz, 47.

A missing person complaint was filed with the Koh Samui Tourist police stating that Mr Reisz had gone missing from a rented room in Phuket on November 23, Phuket Police Commander Choti Chavaviwat said.

“The man who filed the missing person complaint claimed that Mr Reisz had a business in Koh Samui, but he had fled to Phuket because of a business conflict,” Maj Gen Choti said

“In the missing person report, he claimed that his friend rented a house in Thalang and had last been in touch on November 23,” Maj Gen Choti explained

Police searched Mr Reisz’s rented house in Sri Soonthorn, Thalang and found his passport.

“We are now checking for a match between the DNA collected from the evidence in the room and the the DNA of the body,” Maj Gen Choti said.

“At the moment we believe that the motive for the murder was a business conflict,” he said.

Mr Reusz's friend in Samui has already been contacted and is coming to Phuket to identify the body, as well as his family from Hungary, Maj Gen Choti added.

RIP Mr Reisz.

As someone else wrote recently, most farang murders are done by other farangs.

Wasn't that someone else you? Probably going to see more of this now with the large influx of Russians & eastern Europeans.

And where exactly does it state the murder was done by a farang?

It doesn't say anywhere that the murder was done by a farang. In the article from the local news source that can't be named here due to forum rule 31, Mr Reisz was in a business dispute with another Hungarian on Samui.

Oh! I'd still challenge any statement that most farangs murdered in Thailand are killed by other farangs. Though no doubt the eastern Europeans will try and redress that balance.

According to the editor of that publication, most westerners murdered on Phuket are killed by other westerners. Nothing was every said about all of Thailand...

Dead man identified as Hungarian businessman

The Nation on Sunday

Police yesterday identified as a Hungarian a man whose body was found in a plastic bag at an isolated rubber plantation on Patong Mountain in Phuket's Kathu district on Friday. He ran a property business in Surat Thani's Koh Samui.

The man, whose face seemed to have been struck with a heavy object, was estimated to have been dead for at least 3-5 days.

Phuket Police Commander Maj-General Chote Chawanwiwat said the deceased, Peter Right, 47, was in the business of renting out apartments in Koh Samui. He left the island for Phuket on November 22 and lost contact with family and friends since November 24.

His compatriots filed a missing complaint on November 24. Police suspected that Right was abducted by an unknown group, tortured and killed between November 25-27 period and the motive might have been business conflict or illegal trade.

Moshe David is not a ungarian name.whistling.gif

Investigators believe Mr David became furious at his partner after confronting Reize about what he said was his forged signature on a land sale deal worth about 15 million baht.

Nationwide manhunt for alleged killer of Hungarian businessman

Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: -- A nationwide manhunt was launched for the alleged executioner of Hungarian businessman Peter Reisz, whose body was found hidden with hands bound in a rubber plantation on Patong Hill on November 29.

“We have contacted every local police station on the island, and immigration offices nationwide, with information about the arrest warrant for dual Israeli-Hungarian national Moshe David,” said Phuket Police Commander Choti Chavaviwat on Sunday.

An arrest warrant was issued earlier on December 2 for the chief suspect, Mr David, who was allegedly Mr Reisz business partner in Koh Samui.

“After getting into a fight with Mr David, Mr Reisz told Koh Samui Police that he feared for his life,” explained Thung Thong Police Superintendent Kraithong Chanthongbai.

“Concerned about the situation, the Hungarian Embassy in Bangkok requested that Mr Reisz contact embassy officials every three days,” explained Col Kraithong.

The current investigation has already revealed that at some point Mr Reisz allegedly forged Mr David and Mr David’s mother’s signatures on documents related to the sale of land valued at about 15 million baht, Maj Gen Choti explained.

Police are currently seeking Mr David for only two charges: the murder of Mr Reisz and concealing the body. However, police may bring more charges against Mr David, Col Kraithong said.

At the press meeting on December 2, Gen Choti outlined the events leading up to the disappearance of Mr Reisz.

“On November 24 at about 2pm, Mr Reisz went shopping at a Tesco Lotus, and finished in time to accompany Mr David to a construction supplies shop in Thung Thong, Kathu, at about 5pm,” Gen Choti explained.

“At the construction supplies shop they bought black plastic bags, door fixtures and other house ‘do it yourself’ items,” Maj Gen Choti said.

“We believe that Mr David may have rented another house in Thung Thong,” Gen Choti added.

The white Toyota Vigo belonging to Mr Reisz was recovered in Samui, though its plate number had changed and it was found sporting a red plate, Thai media reported yesterday.

Police intend to question Mr David’s wife, who they have contact information for, but who is not being held.

Though DNA test results comparing samples found in Mr Reisz's rented room in Sri Soonthorn, Thalang, and those from his body have yet to confirm a match, Col Kraithong said that police were now confident the body recovered was that of Mr Reisz.

Alleged killer of Hungarian businessman caught in Bangkok

http://www.phuketgaz...gkok-19645.html

I see they have also released the name of a second suspect. The name sounds Eastern European as well.

I remember reading that police stated it was a very remote part of the rubber plantation and that one would have to have good local knowledge to get in and out of there.

I thought a Thai would have to be involved, if for playing no other part but the disposal of the body.
