Buying Grey Market Dslr's In Thailand Seems Common

A local warranty does not mean grey market. Canon, for example, sells cameras with a Thailand-only warranty: http://www.canon.co.th/personal/web/buying/warrantyterms?languageCode=EN

If you live in Thailand, then a local warranty from the manufacturer should be acceptable, if you don't live here, then make sure the product comes with a worldwide guarantee. I believe Nikon offer local warranty on their cameras and worldwide on their lenses (as an example, I have no Nikon gear). A grey import has no warranty from the manufacturer; just the dealer saying "bring it back here if it goes wrong".

With reference to the link provided, I doubt that Big Camera would sell grey imports. They are one of the major chains and certainly every camera and lens I have bought from them has been "proper". You will find grey market items in some of the smaller shops in Panthip for example; usually at much lower prices than the main stores. Save some money and hope nothing goes wrong; or stick to the more established shops.
