Abhisit, Suthep Could Face 700 Charges Of Attempted Murder: Tarit

In the other paper it says that Aphisit and Suthep are being charged as individuals, not as members of the former government. If this is true it would be a way to avoid creating a legal precedent for charging Thaksin for any of his misdeeds.

Not sure about that....

However, as individuals both Abhisit and Suthep could not have held meetings as part of CRES nor could they have given orders to the RTA.

However Thaksin retains his police rank....

It doesn't really matter if people think that the protesters were right or wrong in what they were trying to achieve, if Abhisit gave orders that they should be killed or attempted to be killed to stop the demonstrations then he should be tried as such but of course there are political motives involved in this also.

Governments get away with murdering their own people every year in demonstrations such as this and it is about time they were brought into account for their actions

We are talking about murder and attempted murder of his own people here, I hope he is brought to justice if the allegations are true.

You think he is that stupid? He would have signed an order authorizing lethal force under certain circumstances to achieve a goal.

So then it comes down to proving what was actually conveyed to the troops on the ground. You think Abhisit would sign a shoot to kill order?

You mean as stupid as Arisman for being recorded on tape inciting the reds to burn down Bangkok? We know well what was conveyed to the reds on the ground. The army intervention was in response to Arisman and Cos systematic upping of the level of violence. We won't see you arguing this point.

He wouldn,t be / have been dehumanised, insensitive and arrogant enough to boast about the horrendous fatalities and other effects his hands on overseeing authority, and orders were having, nor give a running update for not only national media, but globally as Thaksin did on repeated occasions.

Not forgetting his crass comments when giving sickening reasons as to what and why things had happened.

God only knows what the families of his victims are going through with all the Thaksin made / purposely created headlines.

These have seemingly taken over the Thai media instead of how the government are mis using their authority and deceiving those who they are supposed to be their for....all the of them, not just his financially rewarded voters..

Will these long suffering families ever get their much needed peace, some closure and deserved justice, let us pray and hope they will and may it come soon for them..

AV is guilty of taking a leading role in siding with Army Chief Poajinda to force a coalition of the unwilling, that he knew would be widely despised and cause serious social unrest, but for the sake of power (and it was his only way to power) he underhandedly carried through with the undemocratic deed. He, the elite backers and the army are responsible for the consequent mayhem. He shouldn't have done it in the first place, but certainly at the first sign of serious civil unrest, for the sake of his country he should have dissolved parliament immediately. Shame on his greedy lust for power and efforts to pervert democracy for the sake of those who he and his privileged associates see as being worthy.

Will Taksin be charged for the thousands killed in his war on drugs?

Will Yingluck be charged for all of the deaths in the south in her war against the Muslims?

No, because multiple investigations were unable to substantiate the allegations against former PM Thaksin.

No, because PM Yingluck has not been accused of targeting non combatants nor of crimes against muslims. And why do you describe it as "her war against muslims"? The insurgency has been going on for decades, nor is there a war against muslims. Thailand has a duty to protect its citizens of all religions against violent insurgents.

So what your saying is he should give in to mob rule. Let the thugs win when they threaten violence, and burn the city?

No, I am saying he shouldn't have caused the whole situation by deliberately perverting democracy, and that when he was caught red-handed he should have stepped down. He knew perfectly well the electorate did not want him to be the head of government. Shameless // Thai script removed //

You may brush it aside, but Abhisit was instrumental in causing the mess in this country with his selfish, greedy, bigoted behaviour, even if you & his other supporters mistakenly consider him to be a beacon of virtue.

For a moment I thought you were talking about Thaksin!

Electorate meaning the red mob leaders on Thaksin's payroll instructing the red mob occupying downtown Bangkok to burn down city halls and bring one million liters to Bangkok and burn it down..Of course he and everyone else knew these idiots didn't want him to be head of the government. One thing you and every other TS/red apologists don't want to discuss is that this burn Bangkok campaign started almost immediately after TS's 47 billion ws siezed by the government. Go figure.

Thank you GK.

I am sick to death of reading the constant flow of posts that repeat the same old message regarding TS's culpability regarding the war on drugs, Tak Bai or Krue Se.

AV's administration led politically motivated investigations into these events to try to pin something on TS, but came up completely empty-handed. And as GK has correctly mentioned many independent investigations into each of these exonerated TS of any blame.

Please stop it.

Agree on your points there, however on the off chance that the Dems do ever get in power again maybe they may copy Peau Thai and order the political tool which the DSI has become to reopen some investigations and suddenly find new evidence on Thaksin re war on drugs, maybe also as PM he was responsible for the killings at Tak Bai and Krue Se?. It doesn't matter which side of the fence you sit, Tharit has simply been a 'bitch' for whoever has been in power, the man has no self respect and sells his soul to whoever.

Indeed, also agree on your point that Thailand has a duty to protect its citizens of all religions, but lets not stop at insurgents. It has a duty to protect it's citizens against persons whether they take over airports, or armed resistance in the centre of Bangkok

I think it would have been better if the army had not decided they knew best about what the Electorate wanted/were willing to put up with and leave it to the normal electoral way of expressing their views.

No electorate meaning, if there was an election in early 2010 the Dems would have been turfed out of their unjust position of poached power.

The only way they formed that coalition was with the explicit backing of the army. Illegal, ??, undemocratic, surely

Only in the minds of the ignorant.

The army had no say in the matter. They are not a parliamentary participant.

I think that it is the best news I have read in a long while. Heads of state should be held accountable for their acts. If this was done more often then there would be far fewer dead people in the world. The protests in Bangkok were peaceful, there was no danger, except from the military. As for the military in Thailand, Australia or anywhere else involving itself in civil affairs—this should never be done. The military are responsible for carrying out the actions of the psychotics who run the world.

If anyone is interested in reading a book on this subject, Geoff Robertson "

The protests in Bangkok were peaceful, there was no danger, except from the military.

You are being sarcastic.. right? There were already 7 officials killed before the army arrived. If the Police would have done their job, things would not have gotten out of control. But...

A kind reminder of some of the events leading up to the dispersal:

1) the firing of an M79 into the 11th Infantry Regiment on January 28, 2010;

2) the firing of grenades during the incidents at Kok Wua intersection on April 10, 2010, which caused 5 deaths of soldiers (including that of Col Romklao);

3) the firing into the oil depot at Prathum Thani on April 21, 2010;

4) the firing of an M79 into the BTS station at Sala-Daeng on April 22, 2010, which caused 2 deaths and 78 injuries;

5) the firing of an 3 RPGs into Dusit-Thani Hotel on May 17, 2010

6) the firing attack into the police flat at Lumpini Police Station on May 19, 2010, causing deaths and injuries of police officers and their families;

7) the firing of an M16 on police officers and soldiers in front of the Krung Thai Bank, Sala-Daeng Branch, on May 7, 2010, which caused 1 death and 2 injuries of policemen;

8) the firing into the UCL building on May 14, 2010, causing 1 deaths and 4 injuries of police officers;
