Hit-and-run road crash leaves one dead in North Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A Thai pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run road accident in North Pattaya just before daybreak on Thursday.

Police and rescue services made their way to the Sukhumvit Road in the Lompok area to deal with the crash which saw the death of the man, whose name and age is unknown as he was carrying no forms of ID on him at the time.

The severity of the injuries sustained to the man suggest it was a high impact collision. Nearby was an Ice Truck which had come-to-rest in the central reservation of the Sukhumvit Road. Police assumed this was the vehicle that struck the man but it soon became apparent this was not the case after speaking with its driver, Khun Wirataerp aged 40. He claimed he was driving along when he spotted the body in the road. He attempted an evasive manoeuvre to avoid hitting the body and ended up losing control of the truck which fell onto its side in the Central Reservation.
