I am an advanced Thai learner, but far from fluent. I would like to improve my fluency by practicing one on one conversation for two or three hours a week.

I was going to ask a Thai neighbor, a young man with good English skills, to work with me doing this exercise. What do you think would be a fair amount to pay him?

Just pay for his drinks, both of you get drunk.....best way to practice your conversation skills in a different language.

Cheers.

Assuming that you have already chatted with him occasionally, all you need do is ask him. I should think that it would be worth a caddy fee; for five or so hours a caddy gets about 500baht. An hour per day when mutually convenient at 100 per hour is good. The min wage is 300 per day so he may well take less and you can increase depending on results.
