I understand from shaggy1969 that farming in this thread can cover many various types of farming, so let me contribute some pics from the salt farming industry here in Thailand. A tough job walking around in this high concentration salt water.

A simple but none the less effective way of giving much needed water to the young rubber trees during the dry spell.

OK he's on his way.... got his rubber wheels too!

Brilliant photo Jim,

I have never seen that done before.....push over tyres.

Simple and effective, but with a side effect of wobbly steering I think blink.png

Very common to see down Songkhla way...

He was not wobbling at all! .... even going around the corner! The kids could not resist getting in the shot!

One day after dropping the little one off at school and heading back home with Mrs Shaggy I spotted a trailer full of plastic bags.

Being a little nosy curious I went over to the home it was parked at and with the help of my good lady I asked what was in the bags.

It turned out that they were coffee plants, there is a government scheme to try and encourage local farmers in to growing more varied

types of crops instead of the normal sugarcane, cassava and rice, but it is recommended that they are grown under shade and so

some of the local rubber farmers are trying to grow them under the shaded canopy of their rubber trees.

It is a three year trial to see if the coffee plants can grow and eventually

produce a good marketable bean......if not the the farmers will be re reimbursed there initial costs for the plants.

A couple of weeks later Great Uncle Da Tong bought some of the coffee plants also and planted them at his rubber farm.

I am interested to see if they take and if they will turn into a healthy coffee plant which produces good beans.

Also very common in our area.

Some one, some where here, or on photo forum posted a pic without rubber protection, tongue.png whistling.gif that would be a noisy ride... not to mention not so good on the road!

I could not find who or where it was posted... Internet connection has been frustratingly slow on and off for a couple of day! bah.gif

Here's another one... it's about 5 or 6 kms to get to the rice paddy, so left about an hour earlier than we did!

At least they are quite easy to pop on and off!
