Noodles
Hi My wife and I have agreed to divorce. We live in different parts of Thailand. I have read before that if I go to my amphur and she goes to hers at the same time of the day we can divorce that way. But she was told by her amphur today that this can not be done. She was told that we have to be at the same amphur office together. Does this have to be the amphur office that we were married at, or can it be any amphur office in Thailand? Many thanks for your help
Mario2008
Any amphur office will do. Both going to the same amphur will speed things up. But I believe it is possible to divorce at two different amphurs. How it should work is that first one party goes to the amphur and signs the register and such at the amphur, with is than certified by that amphur. The documents are then end to the other ampur, where the other spouse signs the papers. I heard of somone signing the papers at a Thai consulate and sending the papers to the amphur in Thailand. Noodles
Thanks for your reply. I have just come back from the amphur and they said they can not do by post. Husband and wife have to be in the amphur together to do it. Thanks
