Suspension Of Contracted Services During Annual Trip "home"

Featured Replies

It takes time to get clued-up in a new country with language and cultural barriers,as well as no local knowledge to start with. And so it was with us a few years back. Our routine is 9 months here and 3 months in sunny Scotland if we can catch the summer. In case this helps others -

Truevisions offer two suspension period per annum, each being up to 3 months in duration, whereby the normal billable amount is replaced with a nominal suspension fee. You just have to ask. Only issue we have had is that they never seem to remember what they agreed to and it usually takes a telephone call to get the signal back up and running on our return.

TOT also offer a suspension option for a Broadband contract - whereby the normal charge can be basically suspended for 60 days. Don't have experience of this one in practice yet (just discovered it!) so there are some questions. Does the contract duration extend by the length of the suspension period? Can you have more than one suspension period but not exceeding 60 days in total in any given year? Etc. Maybe someone has been down this road before?

Don't forget to turn off the main electric switch and main water valve. Just recently an empty condo down the hall had a major water leak. It wasn't discovered until the water started running out in the hall -- the front door had one of those silly vertical sills so popular here -- so there was about 3 - 4 inches of water in the condo. Someone's going to be in for some work when they return back to their condo.
