Security Check Before Flight.
Emirates. The checkouts were twice in three hours. Why do it twice going one way and then only once on the return flight? -

Starmer’s Policy U-Turns won’t win back lost voters doubts as Leadership Pressure Mounts
I'll admit that I confused the figures for the May elections with the total number of councils in England but nevertheless my point holds. Unless there is a scandal, the chances of the Labour PLP or NEC ousting a PM, who delivered a 174-seat majority in parliament less than a year ago, on the back of some bad results in local council elections is negligible. Clueless? Yes that about sums it up if you believe that Starmer will no longer be PM in November (unless there is a scandal). -

Tipping
Every Friday night I walk into the Moat House rooftop bar with my pal, we sit at our normal table overlooking the moat, start listening to the live music, watch the moat/traffic/passers by, and they bring over our drinks. No need to speak to anyone, they know what we want. When we leave I hand them 100bht for my 85bht Leo, I've enjoyed the music and the service, so why not. -

Extremely high electricity bill for an Airbnb
You're way off base. Thai Nationals that stay in Thai apartments often and pay b7 and even more for electric. I stayed in apartment for many years and paid seven baht a unit. As I said in the previous post the owner has to purchase and maintain the AC units. There's no reason why someone renting especially for short term should have the use of these for absolutely free. little doubt you were scammed, but I think that the meter has been photoshopped or something. PS: you should also have asked for a monthly bill. -

Politics 6 Border Checkpoints & 10 Cross-Border Trade Points with Cambodia to Close Amid Tensions
Yes, I read this earlier today on Kao Sod English. I was surprised how this has escalated and nothing in Bangkok Post or Nation (that I've seen). I knew there was some gunfire at the border the other day - the Thai news the other day just said the Cambodian army had taken up a position in a sort of pre-agreed no-mans-land on the border and so some gunsots were fired to make them move out. But the earlier report this week said nothing about 2 Khmer soldiers killed or any other injuries. So this is fairly serious. Facebook is adding quite a bit from the Cambodian side which is really upset and calling for Thai boycotts. Reminds me of the time the Thai actress said Siem Reap should belong to Thailand - riots, attacks on the Thai embassy and a Thai army airlift of Thais out of Phnom Penh. Ten years ago?
