It amazes me that no one wants to mention the Paiboon company at the centre of this scandal. Since Thaksin came to power in 2000 this company has been awarded nearly 2.5 billion dollars of government contracts. So it would be fair to guess that, what with being near Chiang Mai, Thaksin got the company in the game. Also on this forum I see that the owner was a friend of Newin Chidchob, who until the infamous telephone conversation with Thaksin prior to deserting and forming a coalition with the DEms "its all over boss" was a great friend of Thaksins.

It would appear that somewhere in this that Paoboon kept friendly with Chidchob and betrayed Thaksin because he kept securing gov contracts under the Dems. Its notwise to betray Mr Thaksin, or finance coup againsthim, because as demonstrated recently he will get his pound of flesh. Keep your eyes peeled for more legal action against certain individuals but try to look behind the story. Thaksins on the attack and I for one am glad I did not betray him

Well one thing about it if Thaksin ever does get back and takes the reins again I hope he is not privy to TVF. A lot of us will be black listed for sure.

It's a bit off topic, but very democratical minded to call oneself lucky not having 'betrayed' Thaksin. The very fact that someone writes this suggests something is very, very wrong about this Thaksin character. IMHO, written from the (relative) safety of my private computer room which no-one knows to find (I hope). If this is the last post from me you see I've been wrong. I didn't mean it, I was just joking, a power outage made me loose my temper, a non-number-nine pickup passed with loud music, my district votes correctly, and I'm on my knees as well rolleyes.gif

He feels a massive feeling of why me? They have all been at it for years.

Whatever happened to that family who sold dtac, or cp for flogging tesco? He will give big payback to all of them who forced him into exile.

That's Chinese business.

Ooooooo....scary shit.

Seriously, what a post man. It's ok to be corrupt as long as you team up with Thaksin (I mean Mr. Thaksin). Is that the message?

And you reckon that the dems didn't put their people into position to get paid when they were in.

Business partners of mine in rayong were bitching from the first day the dems got back in that under the table went from 10 to 25/30 percent instantly.

This is the way it has always been done in Thailand, for which ever side.

The report would also be submitted to police to determine if the winning contractor would be indicted on fraud charges, he said.

Will the police also be determining if the police involved up to their eyeballs will also be indicted?

.

Absolutely! Just as soon as hell freezes over.

That's interesting about the 10 percent. In 2003 when Thaksin was in power as I posted earlier we were demanded a 31 percent bribe by the export department on the bottle water deal to Afghanistan. Wonder how it dropped to 10 percent.

This was quoted to me after the coup about dealing with local govt in Rayong. SME business was 10%. Coup came and they knew they wouldn't be in long. 30%.

Hahaha I think you are right. When Thaksin finishes seizing control of this country, and triumphantly comes back, I for sure am going to delete my TV account and pray to be overlooked.... :-)

It wasn't running at 10 percent when the Dems got in. Not if Thaksin's sister concession with the airport parking lot is any indication.

That is what was the going rate for normal business in rayong before the coup. Then whammo

Basic premise of any administration is Governance and Empowerment which requires the following elements, Policy, procedure, systemics and oversight. No hope in hell of even coming close. Start with getting rid of all top and senior police positions. Some are worse than others however they have all been tainted in one way or another by the culture which is cultivated from the top down, not the bottom up as they would have us believe.

That's Chinese business.

AT least in China (PRC) they are making both feeble and some not so feeble attempts at dealing with the corruption, including implementing the death penalty in extreme cases such as those that led to the building failures during eathquakes that led to massive casualties. In Thailand, the economically dominant Sino-Thai community is clearly feeling neither much pain nor guilt as can be seen in the photo below seen from another thread. Note not a single ethnic Tai face to be seen.

But, they barely touch it.

Yeah, as I recall living in Rayong awhile ago that many things were less expensive there compared to other parts of the country.

Was thinking about his whole thing this morning and it seems to me when you start an investigation with the intention of vilifying someone and exonerating another as happened in this case there is no way you will ever get an honest investigation.

If we look at the police station thing from the start the Govt before the Dems got it underway by appointing committies of supposed experts to investigate what was needed and prepare reports. One of these was chaired by the now PT candidate for BKK.

When the Dems came to power the now many pages of reports would have been completed and presented by the experts to the ministry, not the minister, and after they had a good look (how can we get our share) a short report would have been given to the minister to sign.

Now tell me how could an incoming minister have the knowledge to know if the conclusions that had been reached by the experts over a considerable period of time and with consultation with all the places involved were indeed correct? No way is there, so the minister would have to rely on those whose job it was to know.

Yet this, what amounts to a game of pin the tail on the donkey is focused on getting something on one party only.

It seems now that Tarit cant get anything to stick in the right place so has passed it on to someone else to have a go with a threat that some polly or party will soon be taken down.

As for the bit about the contractor subcontracting, that is standard practice, been in that position myself so I know.

Much less messy for the ministry to only have to look after one contractor rather than a whole lot, let the contractor do the worrying.

And incidentally is it the police job to build their stations isn't there a ministry of public works or something that should look after things like that?
