March 4, 201313 yr Eva are doing some cheap flights at present while Thai are are their normal rates so Eva are likely to be packed solid and Thai maybe not so. It's therefore likely that the Thai flights are not so busy and may have seats that are not taken. I often get a couple of seats to myself with Thai and I'm wondering if that could be the situation at present. Any recent experiences? Edited March 4, 201313 yr by yogi100
March 4, 201313 yr You will probably get a better response in the travel section, where this question has been asked many times. theoldgit
March 4, 201313 yr I flew with EVA last week economy for £700 return, the flight was near full but I was fortunate to secure one of two centre rows which were unoccupied thus being able to sleep well for a good duration, note that my original seat was decent anyway it was seat 70A which is only a double seat right at the back where the two unoccupied rows were opposite giving me ease of access. This was LHR to BGK which I assume you are talking about. Edited March 4, 201313 yr by stoneyboy

March 4, 201313 yr Author Is this from the UK or US or somewhere else? From the UK TW. I'm debating paying more for Thai and getting a chance of a half full plane or going withy the cheaper option of Eva and the plane being packed. They both ply this route non stop.
March 4, 201313 yr I flew "economy" eva and got an emergency exit, was facing a hot ass taiwanese stewardess during take off, tons of legroom, could not ask for a better experience. i dont get this thing with paying more for an airline seat... i guess when i hit 60 or thereabouts maybe ill consider it. i almost burst out laughing when i saw the "upgrade" seats section.

Nothing to do with age. For me, it's the minimum class I will fly long haul in.

If Thai seem more expensive, it might be that there discounted seats are sold already. The EVA premium econ seat is pretty good and you can sit cross legged easily, but the armrest doesn't move.
March 4, 201313 yr I flew Thai last oct from Lhr return. On way out pretty full plane, on way back was quite full but I had the 4 middle seats to myself, 1st time!! Made a bed and slept as it was a night flight. Services compared I'd fly Thai but used to fly Eva because of price. Last Oct Thai were cheapest direct flight. My issue with Eva is their prices have risen and although the 777 is a decent bird it's usually full or there abouts. I also fund the Thai crew better AND after 8/9 hrs on Eva the bird starts to smell. For me Thai direct, Eva 2nd but if Thai were a lot more money would go Eva. Non direct, Etihadwith followed by Qatar.
March 4, 201313 yr EVA maybe a low cost airline to fly to Thailand, but one thing about them. Their service is a lot better then China Airlines.
March 5, 201313 yr I flew with BA direct not too bad really, never bother with Thai as too expensive.

You can usually get EVA prem econ for around £900. I fly 50/50 Biz/prem econ on EVA a couple of times a year for £1300 or so. Egyptair 777 biz has flat beds that look simialr to Thai/EVA biz.
