I have heard that children under the age of 12 need not go for visa run. I am South African and my baby is 1 year old and my son 5 years. They are South African as well. Can anyone give me solid information on this please. Some say no need for them to go and other say they need to. Please help????

Children up to a certain age (7 years I believe) cannot be fined/arrested/deported etc for overstay, so, in effect they don't need to do visa runs. I remember seeing a sign to this effect at Don Muang.

Why not nip down to your local immigration office for 'absolute' clarification as to the age etc?

Generally Thais are very sympathetic to children.

They will give up a seat on a bus for a child!!!
