Death Toll Reaches 6 After Boat Capsized In Central China River

<p>CHANGSHA, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- The death toll in Tuesday's boat accident in a central China river rose to six on Thursday, local authorities said.

</p>

<p>The accident took place on Tuesday night in the Yuanjiang River in Yuanling County located in China's Hunan Province. Twelve people were on board the boat, which was rented by a local construction team, when the vessel capsized.

</p>

<p>Six survivors were rescued, but the owner of the boat had drowned before being pulled out of the water. Five people had gone missing, but on Thursday afternoon, search-and-rescue teams retrieved that last two missing bodies, after the other three had previously been found.

</p>

<p>Mass emergency operations were launched after the accident was reported with 40 ships and over 300 people participating in search-and-rescue operations.

</p>

<p>The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, but investigations were launched as well.
