Razzler1973
I am pretty sure buses will go through BKK, it's a major hub after all. Even the train would require changing in BKK Not sure if there are direct Hua Hin to Pattaya mini-buses, can check that out but not sure at all and would assume you'll stop off BKK somewhere even for a bit
lapd
It may be possible going through Hua Hin or something like that but it's probably going to be a lot more hassle than just connecting in Bkk.
Ricardo
IIRC there are direct buses from Southern Bus Terminal to Pattaya-Nua, which reduces the hassle, in Bangkok? At least no need to get across town to Ekamai !
aarn
there are express buses that run phuket to pattaya. you can get one of these from the bus stop on highway 4, about 10 km from the business centre of chumphon. you would have to book a few days in advance, and of course pay the whole price phuket - pattaya. if you are now on koh tao, you could get an agent to organise it. in chumphon, fame guest house could organise it, i guess. sorry reduced functionality today, typing one-handed. aa
oldsailor35
I reckon that to go anywhere by bus in Thailand, you first have to take off your head and screw on a cabbage !

If you are starting in Phuket it would be ok though. Edited April 25, 2013 by lapd
Lakegeneve
I am pretty sure buses will go through BKK, it's a major hub after all. Even the train would require changing in BKK Not sure if there are direct Hua Hin to Pattaya mini-buses, can check that out but not sure at all and would assume you'll stop off BKK somewhere even for a bit I can recall seeing signs in HH for HH to Sin City direct vans (they take the southern bypass and avoid inner bangkok) A quick google brings up a number of various threads with info, most being based on the reverse trip. Here are a couple of threads with contact info: http://www.expat-visa.com/transportation/buses/pattaya-hua-hin-mini-van/, http://<URL Automatically Removed>/pattaya-forum/80451-pattaya-to-hua-hin-mini-bus.html Seems to be 3-4 services a day, 4 hrs and 400 baht. Your call if you trust a van journey, I'd ask in the HH sub forum for advice to see what others have done. Vans seem to depart from just south of the night market where there are 2 companies based for services to BKK. The HH van option may be quicker than going through BKK but getting to the center of HH is not always easy with the newish Transport Company Bus Terminal being 3km south of the center on Phetkasem (Check where in HH your bus will stop as some companies do stop near the night market). Of course the railway station is central. Going into BKK and the Southern Bus Terminal does offer a direct connection to Sin City but those buses will only be every 60-90-120mins compared to Mo Chit and Ekkamai which are roughly every 30 mins all day. Factor a potential wait in unless you get an exact departure time. It is possible to catch a bus from Chompon to Mo Chit with the Koh Tao - BKK ferry/bus connection http://www.lomprayah.com/E/route.htm (unless that has changed) so this may be an option though it arrives late at night so you'll be waiting for the first bus from Mo chit 5amish?? If you do take a bus whatever you do don't take a 2nd class bus as this could add up to 2hr to your journey time to BKK. And remember in Chompon there are at least 3 different locations to take a bus (avoid the Hwy one out of town - mentioned above in post #6 for the Phuket bus- as not many buses use this). Again, ask in the HH sub-forum for advice. Some there will know the best and easiest option for your needs.

Thanks for letting us know you have actually made a trip from anywhere direct to Bkk. Good to know that's doable. I think this is what happens when someone who had nothing informative to offer opens their mouth due to some personal ego need. Thereafter, they feel compelled to reinforce that they really offer nothing by showing their patent ignorance when all they should have done in the first place is kept their mouth shut. I am not so wise but usually if I know that I have nothing to offer to a request for info, I don't post anything.
