drdoom6996
Thais are like Geese, they wake up in a new world every day. Someone needs to remind food sellers that it is HOT outside and food will spoil sooner. My daughter just got sick for the same reason. Food to long in the Refrigerator made her sick. whiteman
Why is this so called un named restaurant Not named???? JeffreyWitty
"eaten at an unnamed restaurant" Why is it still unnamed? Would it be so hard to report NEWS and INFORM the public of the violating establishment? Oh wait - what am I thinking - the owner might LOSE FACE - we can't have any of that. Diarrhea, sure - but no loss of face.

Surely one of the 30 knew its name this smacks of a tipical cover up so that the powers that be do not get there nosers out of the troff I took it to mean that the restaurant doesn't have a formal name. Most of them are just shacks along the beach front. The lousy quality of food on the island is one reason why I don't enjoy going over there. Dr Wanchai
Cam you trust any restaurant in Thailand? You cannot trust any restaurant in any country, repeat, in any country. You cannot see what goes on in the kitchen. There is always an element of risk eating out.

You cannot see what goes on in the kitchen. There is always an element of risk eating out. You can trust restaurants here. I've eaten at some restaurants frequently (2 or 3 times a week) for 7 years and NEVER had a problem. There's probably more risk in my own kitchen.

I go by the simple rule that if the restaurant is busy, then it is okay. It has worked for me in every country I have visited. Dr Wanchai and Frankiebaby are being pessimistic in the extreme IMHO. Locationthailand
This is a crock - most Thai restaurants don't necessarily comply with western regulation or food standards but with such high turnover they rarely get people sick compared to the numbers there are out there. Ditto street vendors. No, hanging meat in fly blown vendor carts is not healthy and neither is cooked rare chicken (salmonella poisoning) but somehow cases are rare. I have been here more than a decade and eat street food as well as restaurants and never have I been affected. I have only had a few friends caught out and it was always over seafood. As to Chinese getting sick - well sadly that could happen to any bunch of tourists but I would guess it was a common food they ate as most package tours usually block it thru. I would guess oysters taken above the low water mark (exposed to sun) but this is only guessing. I agree with all the OP's here, why not name the restaurant? R123
Several weeks ago I had an appointment with a specialist at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (gastro problem). My specialist told me about a recent similar case as reported here not only involving Chinese tourists but also as a result of eating dodgy food at Ko Larn Island. So exactly the same thing has happened again: so what conclusions do you draw from that???????

Postmaster
frankiebaby. You can trust many of the restaurants here in thailand but I am not surprised about Koh Larne. Last time I ate there I was sick too. They know you are there for one meal and may never return and just serve you up contaminated food. I vowed never to eat there again! We need to name and shame the restaurant. In the UK we never eat Pork when there is no 'R' in the month: ie the hot months, if there is such thing in the UK. Here Pork is served in temperatures 40 plus and very easily contaminated if not cooked thoroughly. I hope the the sick get well soon. Koh Larne CLEAN UP YOUR ACT PLEASE ! You hit the nail on the head. Why would they care as most customers would be unlikely to return whether they got sick or not.
