I tell them about the time I was at Spurs for a match up with Liverpool in the 1970s. " It was about 2pm. I was having a quiet pint in 'The Cock' and was just about to go to the ground when some noisy Liverpool fans burst into the pub. Followed by more Pool fans, and more. In the space of 10 minutes they had taken over the whole pub. They had a drummer and were singing songs that I'd never heard. I couldn't understand what they were all singing. I was stuck in the corner. The supporters spotted me and started pointing and chanting. "Death to the cockney <---->." Then they sang 'You'll never walk alone'." Suddenly, at five minutes to three, they all left for the game, leaving me on my own. I thought <----> this. Don't want this again. So after the game I bought a red scarf and joined the supporters club. Has kept me safe ever since. I'm very confused Owl. So are you a Spurs fan or another team. It’s never been a secret, none of us have hid the fact, we are all proud of where we came from. It’s been referenced many times on here.

Another thing you might not know about satellite towns outside the M60 is they have equal amounts of City, United and Liverpool fans particularly in the areas between Merseyside and Greater Manchester. Popular Post SantiSuk
All a matter of personal choice as to what team you support. I don't particularly care for those who swap teams periodically based on nothing other than them being current flavour of the month when there is no geographical match, but quite happy with those who choose a team early on in life even if no geographical match and then stick with it. I don't see why we should criticise someone for picking a top side and sticking with it if they live in a town that has only very low league stuff. I'm somewhere in between. Doncaster, Carlisle United, Norwich + Ipswich, then Arsenal. All based on where I lived/colleged. I'm quite open to criticism on the Arsenal choice though, as I lived in South East London and decision of all the London teams was based on style and history but must have been tinged with their success as Spurs and Hammers would have equally qualified on style and history and have always had a bit if an affection for both. Never liked Chelsea, more because of their bovver boy image around the 80s/90s. I don't particularly dislike them any longer.
