Russia: Psychiatric Hostpial Fire Kills 38 In Moscow

<p>MOSCOW, RUSSIA (BNO NEWS) -- A deadly fire broke out at a psychiatric hospital in the region of Moscow, killing dozens of people, local authorities said Friday.

<p>The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. local time at the mental institution, which is located in the Ramensky settlement.

</p>

<p>Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said there were 41 people in the hospital, according to the Itar-Tass news agency. The death toll was placed at 38 after three people escaped safely, a medical worker and two patients.

</p>

<p>Authorities told the media outlet that there were few probabilities that the victims could survive, as they were all sleeping and likely poisoned by the fumes.

</p>

<p>Emergency teams were able to put out the fire, but the building almost burnt down. The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known, but reports indicate the fire could have been caused by a short circuit.
