THAI launches Star Alliance Visit Thailand Campaign to stimulate tourism

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) will organize the Star Alliance Visit Thailand Campaign as a mean to stimulate tourists to visit Thailand and to encourage Thai people in foreign countries to travel to the kingdom, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.

Acting President of THAI Airways International Somjainuek Engtrakul (สมใจนึก เองตระกูล) revealed that THAI in cooperation with the Star Alliance and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize Star Alliance Visit Thailand Campaign to attract more tourists. The campaign will also boost tourists’ confidence, especially those who would like to travel to the Andaman coastal areas such as Phuket (ภูเก็ต) and Krabi (กระบี่) provinces.

He said the target markets are from Germany, Japan and Korea. He indicated that the Star Alliance comprises aviation network in 139 countries. On a daily basis, the alliances operate about 15,000 flights to 795 airports worldwide from 16 airline businesses.

He said the aim of organizing such campaign is to increase the number of tourists to 20 percent, and it will help generate an income of 950 million baht to the country.

Mr. Somjainuek added that THAI has also organized the Homecoming and Package Program to encourage Thai people living overseas to travel back to the kingdom to celebrate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.

Roll out those Amazing Thailand banners that are gathering dust in the store room,

they are back in fashion. :o

Much as I admire him, I wonder how many people overseas could tell you

the name of our esteemed King, or how long he has been on the throne?
