Viset Road White Lines

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the new lines on Viset Road - from Sai Yuan to Soi Namjai - are supposed to mean?

They are newly painted and are a continuous white line between the two lanes, on both the north bound and south bound sides of the road.

The line separating the bike lane from the left lane has not been repainted.

The one in the middle is for guiding people when they are driving down the middle of the road which is often.

I was actually wondering if this was going to pop up in a Thaivisa discussion, but it got it's own topic! Wow!

That road was designated as a special safety zone some months back. It was noticed by officials that several accidents were occurring at the top of the rise near Soi Mangosteen, which is right in the middle of the new white striped area. So it's some attempt at an increase in safety, like the donkey dicks at Vichet and Saiyuan where the "Through the left ventricle" signs went up last week.

Got to agree with Don that a continuous white line is easier to straddle than a broken line. In regards to what the line means, nothing in actuality except for wasted funds. As far as the sign above posted by NomadJoe, it's a guide for wanna be hitmen.

biggrin.png Truly amazing Thailand! I hadn't even noticed that sign - far too busy watching out for bikes overtaking me on the left and cars pulling over sharply from the right lane as the lights turn red.

But those solid white lines don't stop vehicles from Rawai beach - especially VIP buses - from driving over the centre of the road rather than slow down for the bikes trying to park at the Sunday market.
