4evermaat
At this time with Bangkok Bank credit cards you get SMS alerts automatically For Debit Cards you need to setup the Alerts at the ATM at this time. But that is very easy to do. Thanks The debit card SMS alerts seem to be limited to either overseas transfers into BKB any amount, or debit card POS purchases >1000 baht. There are no SMS alerts for any transaction over xxx amount or any activity / change in balance over xxx amount. Did this change? Or does BkB plan on providing this? K-bank does have these types of alerts, even if you had to pay 20 baht/mo it might be worth it for those with a high enough regular balance. ianguygil
Yes, it is here on our website. Sorry I had it wrong about the ATM, you need to do it via the Contact Center on 1333 or at the branch. All the iBanking and Mobile stuff is with me, and I thought I heard activation for this was on the ATM too but I must have been mistaken. Anyway, here it is at an account level for any transaction >500 Baht. I hope this helps and apologies for the incorrect post. Thanks. The fee is 10 Baht per month as far as I can see per account http://www.bangkokbank.com/BANGKOKBANK/PERSONALBANKING/DAILYBANKING/SMSALERTS/Pages/alert.aspx Edited June 3, 2013 by ianguygil
Pib
I notice per the Terms & Conditions the SMS Alert service is not available for "joint accounts." That's kinda a bummer. Maybe it would cause too many questions between the typical joint account holders: the husband and wife. Or, one joint account holder might think the account is being illegally tapped into when it's just the joint account holder and cause unnecessary calls to the bank. This helps to solve the big mystery of what is happening to your account when you are on the go. Free for 2 months with the current promotion, so why not test it out. The instructions and special phone number on the site allowed me to complete the signup within 4 minutes. I should be making a few transactions tomorrow, so I will see.it in action over the next week or so. One more question or suggestion depending on how you look at it...... I notice per the Terms & Conditions the SMS Alert service is not available for "joint accounts." That's kinda a bummer. Or, one joint account holder might think the account is being illegally tapped into when it's just the joint account holder and cause unnecessary calls to the bank. I don't see why for free or an additional 10 baht, the same alert couldn't be duplicated to a second #. Any thoughts on this ian?
ianguygil
I can ask the Product team. We have groups of specialists who plan the products and come up with the business case. I will ask them about the logic on joint accounts etc. There are always special legal concerns with joint accounts in Thailand which do not exist in other countries. But as I said I will ask them next time I meet with them and I'll get back to the forum to update on this. Thanks. Not quite sure when as I am on a business trip abroad again next week, but I will try to do it this week to get this off my to do list.
