3 Entries During 2 Entry Tourist Visa: Will I Get The Visa Free 30 Days?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I've got a question that neither the dutch consulate or embassy seem to be able to answer!

I am currently in Thailand on a 2 entry tourist visa started on 3rd of April. I have to leave the country before June 1st in order to be able to get the last period of 60 days.

Due to travel plans I want to visit Combodia in July, then spend the last week in Thailand. That would mean I will travel into Thailand 3 times (2 april, 1 june and 1 more time in july)

Is this possible because the 3rd entry will still be during my 2 entry tourist visa period. Can I still get the 30 day visa free period that 3rd time when I get in by plane?

In that case I have to do a visarun before june. If that is not possible I will extend my visa at the Thai Immigration for 30 days for 1900TBH. The first option for the visarun would be cheaper.

I hope someone can help my out cause june 1st is getting closer...... thanks!

You can either buy a re-entry permit allowing exit/return getting the same current permitted to stay time on return or if only one week stay just enter visa exempt (15 days by land or 30 days by air) if you have a passport allowing such. Re-entry permit would cost 1,000 baht - visa exempt nothing.

I am not sure if I understood you correctly.

Your 3rd entry on July would be outside your VISA "enter by" date, which is the validity period of your VISA, as opposed to the "stay period" of your VISA. In which case, your VISA no longer comes into play.

With a Dutch passport, you're entitled to 30-day Tourist Visa Exemption, and this is independent of the Tourist Visa which you have applied. If you're entering by air, it's 30 days; and by land 15 days.

I hope it helps.

u can enter as long visa is valid... once In thailand ur visa don't need to be valid.. the visa must be valid only when u present it to the port of entry... after this u don't care about your visa...

with no visa u can enter by land and get 15 days...

u can do this many times...

u just need to calculate yours days and anticipate your travel in and out to keep visa valid when you enter Thailand only....

again, visa don't need to be valid inside thailand.... do you understand that?

Lvholt, you have given insufficient information for me and other members to give you specific advice.

  1. Nationality: you mentioned the Dutch embassy and consulate, so let us assume that you are a Dutch national.
  2. Visa issue date: you mentioned "2 entry tourist visa started on 3rd of April". Is this the issue date written on the visa in your passport?
  3. Visa expiration date: what expiration date is written on the visa in your passport? Depending on where you got the visa this will be the date preceded by the text "enter before" or by the text "this visa must be utilized before"
  4. Date of first entry into Thailand: you mentioned "travel into Thailand 2 April". Is this the date written on the arrival stamp in your passport after the text "ADMITTED"? Anyway, if the visa was issued on 3 April you cannot possibly have entered Thailand with it on 2 April.
  5. Permission to stay until: what is the date written on your arrival stamp after the text "UNTIL"?
  6. Planned departure from Thailand: you have given no date.
  7. Planned second entry into Thailand: 1 June 2013
  8. Planned departure from Thailand: you have given no date.
  9. Planned third entry into Thailand: you mentioned July but did not give the day of the month.
  10. Planned departure from Thailand: you have given no date.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Your VISA has a "enter by" date that is before 14 August. You plan to exit Thailand on 30 May after your 1st entry using VISA. Assuming that your 2nd entry is on the same day as your 1st exit on 30 May, and you're going to remain in Thailand until 29 June before departing for Cambodia.

My advice is don't activate your VISA for 2nd entry during this period. Use your 30-day Tourist Visa Exemption, which will last you until 29 June. When you return on 10 July, you can activate your VISA for the last time as it's still within the "enter by" date of 14 August.

Alternatively, you can activate your VISA for 2nd entry on 30 May, and use 30-day Tourist Visa Exemption for your last entry since you're only going to stay in Thailand from 10 July - 27 July, which is less than 30 days.

According to your schedule, you don't even need a double-entry VISA.

I is unknown if they will allow a second entry as visa exempt and that he can retain the second tourist visa entry. Suspect they will not.

As already has been pointed out, when returning on a visa exempt you will get 15 days (30 days only if you return by air). So it depends if this will be enough on how you return to Thailand and the exact date you will return.

If returning by land, best is to get a re-entry permit after your second entry in Thailand and before you go to Cambodia. It will cost 1,000 baht and you also need to provide a passport size photo. You can get it at an immigration office, not at the border itself.

Oops ! I missed out on the 15-day by land thingy.

As for 2nd entry as visa exempt, I have tried before. Normally if you don't enter the VISA number in your Immigration Card, they will treat it as a Visa Exemption case.

Unfortunately, before is not now. There have been very recent reports by members of immigration officers refusing a visa exempt entry when there was an unexpired tourist visa in the passport, even when no visa number was entered on the arrival card.
