DPM Chalerm: Most of the drugs in Thailand come from neighboring countries

BANGKOK, 5 June 2013, (NNT) – The Police Narcotics Suppression Bureau has announced the seizure of almost 1 million pills of methamphetamine from four 4 recent major drug busts.

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubumrung said at a press conference that the first drug haul involved 7 Hmong tribesmen trying to deliver 500,000 meth pills from the northern region. Their cars were intercepted in Ban Mo District, Saraburi Province.

In the second case authorities arrested a young man said to belong to a major drug ring while he was delivering 2,000 meth pills in the central district of Chiang Mai. Police also found 5 million baht cash in his possession.

In the third roundup, check-point officials in Chumphon Province intercepted drug smugglers running 300,000 pills of the addictive substance from the central region to the South. Suspects confessed they had received the pills from Phetchaburi and were paid to deliver them to Narathiwat Province.

The last case involved 4 Hmongs smuggling 100,000 meth pills to brokers in Phetchabun Province.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that most of the pills circulated in Thailand were produced and smuggled in from neighboring countries. He added that integrated efforts by the police, military and local officials are needed to eradicate the issue sustainably.

It seems heads of departments have their scams, as with the egg pricing, rice pricing etc. So I wonder about the medicine man? Seems appropriate don't you think?

Of course he would guarantee the destruction of this contraband??

Stick to patrolling Khaosan to keep it safe you dumbass! Everytime you open your fat mouth, you either elicit laughs or disgust. Nothing good ever comes out of it.

Absolutely. A "War on Drugs" will efficiently and quickly eliminate the drug problem in Thailand, as it has elsewhere. The police, military, and all levels of government will combine to eradicate this menace to society, with no hint of corruption, double-dealing, or collusion.

Is he drunk again???? Everything mentioned in the article states places only in Thailand...hmmm....Not denying some certainly comes in from other places like Burma, Malaysia etc. but how and to what extent and what the solution is, don't ask this clown! He'll go have a meeting abroad to accuse other countries as being at fault, get hammered again, and not show up the next day due to a massive hangover (again).

Its fun to read abut him as he is such a fool. Next day, opposite of what he says always happens, haha.

What is going on with Super Chalerm? Is he losing his Mojo? I was expecting him to solve the problem within 3 months...

Yeah, because crank is notoriously difficult to produce. Only people from countries slightly poorer than Thailand are capable of making it
I mean, it's not like every other rural redneck in the entire united states knows how to cook it or anything. =\

"Crank. So easy even a tweeker can do it"

Yes, a lot is produced in other countries but he avoided saying who might be behind the importation here. Anyway did he not get all of this sorted out as he promised some time ago or has he forgotten about that ? Far be it from me to suggest that lapses of memory are associated with excessive use of ear medicine.

If the above post is anything to go by, Khun Chalerm has some real competitors amongst the membership here !!rolleyes.gif

I'm surprised he didn't say ALL of the pills circulated in Thailand were produced and smuggled in from neighboring countries as 'Buddhists' wouldn't ever do such a thing.

Thailand is where the money is and where a dissatisfied (old and young) generation of Thai people are eagerly awaiting the next shipment to "make ends meet"

they all are racketeered in.................

buying a first car

buying an Ipad

buying whitening cream

buying gold

buying all what they really can NOT afford so when all looks to an end........ they need to make end meet.

young and old are selling dope these days!

Thailand.............keep smiling.

Better stay silent and let people believe you are stupid, than open your mouth and remove all doubt!! whistling.gif

All Thailands neighbouring countries, exept Malaysia, are Buddhist! And most drugs transitted through Thailand are going from those Buddhist countries (read Myanmar) to Malaysia.

OMG these people are so stupid, you know people are building dungeons underneath their houses in Burma from all the profits from smuggling, see any land for sale on the border in the north, none, who would sell you own the land you make so much money from smuggling. The authorities know, they just don't do crap because the locals are making bank out of this trade.

I think he means they are burying dope and money in big holes in the ground in the north of Thailand and South of Burma..

You have obviously never been rich from drug smuggling. Every drug lord worth his salt always builds a dungeon with his 1st bit of profit. It's this years 'Have to get' fashion item. tsss some people know nothing !

So much blood sweat and tears go into these dungeons, not necessarily by the builders though :)

You have to keep the underlings in check ! & you can always rent a good dungeon out to S&M pundits :)

This man is such an idoit.

Burma,Northern Thailand and Laos have been traditional drug producing areas for decades so there is little new in his statement. There is a significant Thai envolvement and serious money involved in these locations so do not expect to see much of a change in the years to come. Recent spate of drug bust are purely cosmetic and keeping the competition down.

This is on a prellel to the problems in the south which could be controlled..... but are not, owing to vested THAI interests.
