Shoppin Now In Bangkok Safe Or Not?

Featured Replies

hi guys..

i had booked my airtix and i will be flying over to BKK next wed which is after the 2APR election. i am afraid that the situation will worsen. but i am very looking forward to this trip. my aim is to do some shopping at these areas, chatukchap, MBK shopping center, Night Bazaar, Central world plaza and Pratunam etc....

as right now, the protest had paralysed the Siam Paragon... i am very worried about the situation over there. if i were to change the date, i will have to pay a penalty. so i am thinking if i insist on going, will i be stuck in the hotel and after the 4days there, i cannot do any shopping at all.

any advice ?

thanks !!

Shopping in Bangkok is VERY dangerous. Walking along the pavement you may trip and break your leg on an uneven paving slab, crossing the road may lead to severe injury or even death if you are hit by a car and entering Siam Paragon is definitely not for the faint hearted as the prices will melt your Credit Card. :o

Don't be put off.

Go to Bkk, have a great time... there will be many places to shop that are not affected by the demonstrations. My advice is just keep an ear out, read the local paper (BKK post etc..) or ask the desk staff at the hotel for advice/information.

Seriously, get a life.

I was just having a laugh at the OP, you are proposing to visit Bangkok not Baghdad.

You will probably be able to find a copy of the BKK post or similar in the hotel lobby.

As for where to shop, can't help you there as I am not a big 'shopper'.. I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck
