Thai visa for Korean citizen confusion

Featured Replies

Last Summer I went to Thailand. I entered Bangkok, Thailand by air. I do not remember what kind of visa I got but now that I check my passport, I was stamped for a 5 month stay. What? How in the world did that happen? I was under the assumption that they do not hand out such lengthy stays. Does anyone have an idea what kind of visa I might have gotten and how I can get such a long stay again? I did not do an extension at all!

Thanks!

5 months seems indeed strange and is probably a mistake. As a regular passport holder of the Republic of Korea you should get 90 days on arrival without a visa, and should have a ticket out of Thailand within those 90 days.

wow! 90 days? Can you explain how I can get 90 days? I've seen 30 and 60, but not 90.

Visa stay is limited to 90 days - only the combined visa/extensions such as long stay (O-A) obtain a longer permitted to stay on entry. Suggest you check your passport and see what exactly is entered in it (and if you even had a visa for entry). Most would receive 30 days without a visa. What was the entry and permitted to stay until dates? Suspect either a misread or mistake in stamp date (sometimes due to ink and other due to error - such as being used at low volume entry for a re-entry permit which requires a different stamp date of each traveler).
