I am just on the visa4uk site and trying to find the correct form for my Thai Mrs to come and live and work in the Uk with me.

Is it a settlement visa I am after or just a work visa based on being the wife of UK resident.

Settlement seems the obvious choice but is that not what you get after being in the country 5 years (2 lots of 33 and 30 month stays)

cheers all

No! The above post is wrong.

SET(M) is the form to apply in the UK for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

What we refer to as Indefinite Leave to Remain, the UKBA refer to as settlement.

Your wife needs to apply using form VAF4A. You will also need to complete the financial appendix.

See Applying from outside the UK. Note applications in Thailand need to be made online.

You may find UK Settlement Visa Basics helpful.

I believe so, yes. Print out the appendix and complete it.

Complete the online form: doesn't have to be done in one go, you can save it and come back to it later.

When ready, print out the completed form, submit the online one and make an appointment with the VAC.

Your wife signs the application form and takes it, the financial appendix and financial evidence plus all the other supporting documents, including her TB certificate and language test pass, to her appointment where she hands it all in, has her biometrics taken and pays the fee.

Then the waiting starts.
